UKIP: Is naive his middle name?

Phil Griffiths is one of the more recent additions to UKIP’s NEC.

Mr Griffiths is not someone I would want to see sitting on UKIP's so-called governing body. Indeed, I would suggest that a man who was said to have been so inebriated that he couldn’t find his way to chair a UKIP North West meeting is hardly fit to represent your interests or mine.

In an article recently published in Independence News he speaks of his wonderful life on the NEC. Now after reading his drivel you can only come to one of two conclusions - either he is VERY naïve or he could teach a thing or two to Farage on the art of how to fool UKIP’s more gullible members.

According to Mr Griffiths the NEC is “very effective and capable”. Clearly he needs to get out more. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if the current members of the NEC had a brain cell between them it would die of loneliness.

The NEC exists to serve Farage. It is corrupt and dishonest. Nothing more, nothing less.

Here are Dr Edmond’s views on the article and his time on the NEC:

Independence News is always a riveting read and I turned with some personal interest to the article entitled "NEC: a wealth of skills and experience" by one Phil Griffiths, NWRC. Mr Griffiths was obviously impressed by the great minds he met on UKIP NEC and 'had much to digest as I prepared for my meeting having heard the rumours, misinformation and downright lies that had been circulating in the media and on the Internet that had been circulating in the media and on the Internet by those with their own agendas'.

When on the NEC I did explain, with agreement from David Abbott and Del Young that I had but one agenda and that was to get the UK out of the EU in my lifetime. I am sorry therefore to read that some of those left unexpelled on the NEC appear still to have a different agenda.Mr Griffiths also remarks on how friendly and convivial was the atmosphere. He should watch out.

Appearances can be deceptive. At the Nov 3rd 2008 NEC meeting Mr Farage admitted he had set up a plot with a journalist from the Independent newspaper to entrap poor Martin Haslam into talking to said journalist without Mr Farage's permission. Strange indeed as Mr Farage had himself arranged for the same journalist to call Mr Haslam to 'test his loyalty' as Mr Farage quaintly put it. Beware Mr Griffiths for you never know how your loyalty may be tested and when the call might come.

At another NEC meeting I attended Mr Bannerman admitted sending out spoof emails to his fellow NEC members as a 'security check'. Strange indeed as the NEC had never even discussed let alone approved such checks. It was also a strange security check as it was targeted at one person, David Abbott, whom Mr Bannerman clearly thought was the security risk. How disappointed he must have been when 8 months later it emerged that the 'leak' was not from anyone on the NEC but an administrative bungle by UKIP's computer mailing system. But again beware Mr Griffiths, some emails from your fellow NEC members may not be what they seem.I hope Mr Griffiths enjoys his time on, 'a very effective and capable NEC'. Unfortunately the above evidence shows the opposite is the case. The UKIP NEC is in fact ineffective and incapable.

Finally, a word of advice to Mr Bannerman, if you are going to run a security check on a committee get it approved first and then check everyone on the committee otherwise people rightly get upset when they find out that they alone have been being singled out for Mr Bannerman's attentions.

End of article.

UKIP: Even more on Nigel's new fascist friends

How ironic that Nigel Farage has told the staff of the MEP's favourite Brussels watering hole, O'Farrell's, that if they serve the two BNP MEPs then UKIP will withdraw their custom.

The manager of O’Farrell’s was so concerned by this threat that when the two BNP MEPs arrived and tried to order drinks they were told to leave.

I would suggest that the manager of O’Farrell’s should take a closer look at UKIP’s latest chums before listening to Nigel Farage and blacklisting the BNP. Compared to Farage’s new fascist friends the BNP look like a bunch of second-rate amateurs!

True Finns.

Timo Soini, leader of the Finnish Perussuomalaiset (True Finns) Party, and rather oddly a keen supporter of Millwall F.C., should add a little spice to Farage's new group.

He wants to restrict entry to Finland for foreigners, and calls for legislation to force those already there to integrate. Describing itself as "populist", the True Finns has its roots in agrarian politics, is anti-capitalist, believing that entrepreneurship hampers bureaucracy. The party attracts a great deal of support from those who would have previously voted for the SDP or the Left Alliance. Its mix of "back to the soil" agrarianism, populism, and militaristic nationalism has led many observers to categorise the party as National Socialist. Indeed, in keeping with Nazi tradition, Soini was a corporal in the army.

In April 2009, all the leaders of Finland's political parties signed a declaration condemning racism. Only Soini refused to sign. The party also believes homosexuality to be an "aberration". Finnish celebrity Teuvo Loman complained to police about a Facebook site, called "Lets beat Teuvo Straight", set up by a True Finns candidate for Urjala municipal council elections. The site allegedly promoted violence against Loman.

In December 2006, True Finn councillor Jussi Halla-aho caused a controversy when he published the following comments as part of a discussion about immigrants and rape: “The number of rapes will increase in any case. Therefore, as more and more women will undoubtedly get raped, I sincerely hope that at least the right women, the green-leftist reformers and their voters, will find themselves in the clutches of the rapists, who randomly select their victims. Rather them than anyone else. With people like that nothing else works, except when their own multiculturalist views turn against them.” Halla-aho, who describes asylum seekers as "parasites", has been charged with hate crimes.

Another interesting True Finn politician, is the former wrestler and parliamentarian Tony "the Viking" Halme. In 2004, he received a four-month suspended prison sentence and was ordered to pay fines totalling 80 income-linked "day-fines" - amounting to EUR 4,480 - for criminal offences that were uncovered in connection with a drunken firearms violation episode in the summer of 2003.

Other charges brought against Halme included behaviour likely to cause danger, smuggling, possession of imported goods knowing them to be illegal, and drug use. The latter is ironic, as he has called for drug offenders to be sent to Russian prisons, where they can be dealt with in a more cost effective manner. The day after he was elected to parliament he caused a stir by attacking President Tarja Halonen as a "Lesbian". (Halonen had been a champion for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans-Gender rights in her country). In 2006 Halme was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol. In that same year he was involuntarily committed to a mental hospital.

The True Finns will sit well with the populist Lega Nord, the Italian party expelled from the Independence & Democracy Group by Farage following allegations of racist behaviour. That party is partly defined by its homophobia.

Lega Nord.

Giancarlo Gentilini, Lega Nord's deputy mayor of Treviso called in 2007 for the "ethnic cleansing" of homosexuals." I will immediately give orders to my forces so that they can carry out an ethnic cleansing of faggots," he told a local television station. "The faggots must go to other cities where they are welcome. Here in Treviso there is no chance for faggots or the like."

In the same year he taunted Pecoraro Scanio, Italy's Minister of the Environment and an open bisexual, by saying: "In Gorgo, a woman was raped with a chisel in the back and in the front. I say to Pecoraro Scanio that I want the same thing happens to his mother and his sister."

Pro-Federalist Lega Nord – the party's constitution says that the party will end its political activity when federalism is obtained - are no strangers to racially motivated violence: indeed, MEP Mario Borghezio was fined in 1993 for beating a 12 year old Moroccan child. In 2005, whilst sitting as an MEP, he was found guilty of setting fire to the belongings of immigrants under a railway bridge in Turin, during a vigilante raid. In September 2007 he was arrested by Belgian police for his part in an anti-Islamic demonstration.

The former leader of Lega Nord, Umberto Bossi, an MEP in the last parliament, was convicted of incitement to violence in 1998. He received a one-year suspended prison sentence. He had previously received a conviction for taking a 200 million bribe. In 2003 he described Africans as "Bingo-Bongos", and suggested that the Italian navy should open fire on boats carrying refugees.
Notorious holocaust denier Father Floriano Abrahamowicz is considered to be the "unofficial Chaplain" of Lega Nord. He told an Italian newspaper: "I know the gas chambers existed... but I don't know if anyone was killed in them. I know that, in addition to the official version, there is another version..." He has also been a vocal supporter of Erich Priebke, the German SS officer convicted of war crimes for a 1944 massacre in Rome, extradited to Italy from Argentina and currently living under house arrest.

The Lega has its own militant faction, the so-called Green shirts.

Morten Messerschmidt: Heil Hitler, & some embarrassing songs.

The Danish People's Party (DPP), rejected by the British Conservatives, has been condemned by the Paris based European Jewish Congress for its approach to the question of immigration. It has also been accused of Islamophobia.

Morten Messerchmidt is one of the DPP's new MEPs. In 2002 he was sentenced to prison for racially motivated offences. In April 2007 he was reported to have been drunk in a restaurant in Copenhagen, and was seen "Heiling Hitler". Messerchmidt subsequently admitted singing Nazi songs at the restaurant. The incident caused him to temporarily resign from his position in the government.

Messerchmidt is a former assistant to Mogens Camre MEP, himself reported to the police for possible violations of anti-racism legislation in 2007.

UKIP: Questions for Mr David Bannerman

1. Why are you still promoting the lie that you are related to a former prime minister? You KNOW that you are not.

2. And what about your plans to oust Nigel Farage and replace him as leader of UKIP? Still getting your supporters to brief against him in Brussels and the UK? And what has the odious Paul Nuttall - Farage’s favoured successor - got to say about this?

3. Still promoting the lie that you were a key player in Northern Ireland’s ‘peace process’? Funny how none of the real key players can even remember you.

4. Still claiming to be a successful scriptwriter? So have ANY of your scripts been published? And have ANY of them been made into films?

5. Wasn’t it rather silly of you to make it known to Peter Reeve and others that you would continue to employ him as Regional Organiser for the Eastern Region if you got elected as an MEP?

As Peter Reeve was one of those sitting on the interview panel shouldn’t you have asked him to withdraw from the selection process as he clearly had an interest to declare?

Many would say that the guarantee of a £30,000 job could have made him rather keen to get you elected!

6. So how much are you going to donate to UKIP's General Election fund?

7. When do you intend to move to the area that you were elected to represent? According to UKIP's official database you are still living in Acton.

8. Still looking for that special lady to share your life with?

UKIP flop in Norwich North

Forget all the usual spin about how well UKIP did in Norwich North. The result was way below the leadership’s expectations.

The leadership of UKIP were confident that Glenn Tingle would come second or even take the seat. Tingle even gave up his job as he expected to win!

Peter Reeve - UKIP thug and Regional Organiser for the Eastern Region - made himself look VERY stupid by telling activists that Glenn Tingle would become UKIP’s first elected MP. Following this gaffe it was no surprise to see him looking despondently into his glass of beer while Chloe Smith gave dozens of victory interviews to the media.

UKIP’s leadership brought in activists from across the country, handed out posters and leaflets and even persuaded a handful of their MEPs to make a few lightning visits to the city. Even Farage managed to tear himself away from the arms of Annabelle Fuller and turned up a couple of times!

It is interesting to note that the rest of UKIP’s MEPs could not be bothered to help Mr Tingle. Clearly the good life in Brussels means more to them than winning seats in the UK Parliament.

But despite all their efforts UKIP still only managed to get just over 11% of the vote and couldn’t even beat the pro -EU Lib Dems.

UKIP is still regarded as a one issue party. They are simply not seen as a viable alternative to the old party system. But should we be surprised?

UKIP’s ‘lend us your vote’ slogan hardly helps matters. This just sends out a message that Farage and UKIP are not serious about winning power in their own right.

UKIP exists solely to keep Farage and his sycophants on the EU Gravy Train. That is why he always pulls out all the stops for the Euro elections. The fact that a large number of his MEPs and officials could not even be bothered to help Mr Tingle proves this beyond any doubt. If UKIP was truly committed to winning power at Westminster they would have had ALL their MEPs and officials campaigning in Norwich right up to the last day of the election.

Dr David Abbott - former UKIP NEC member and activist - spoke for many when he said:

Who but a real patriot would want to trudge round wet and windy Norwich when the comfortable bars and restaurants of the continent are so tempting?

As you point out real patriots are in short supply among the UKIP leadership. Being an MEP is itself the lucrative goal for most of them. And when Britain leaves the EU, the pay checks and privileges will end.

So UKIP leadership would risk its lifestyle by winning Westminster elections.

At the next General Election UKIP will not win any seats.

UKIP: More on UKIP's new fascist friends in the EU

UKIP's new fascist alliance in Brussels continues to attract unwelcome publicity for Farage and his sycophants.

Taken from The New Statesman:

Ukip's new friends are even more unsavoury. The party's major partner in the Europe of Freedom and Democracy group, formed at the beginning of this month, is Italy's Lega Nord, which, despite being part of Silvio Berlusconi's governing coalition at home, wants autonomy for northern Italy and has a track record of xenophobic and anti-gay statements. Other members of the group - described by Searchlight's Europe correspondent Graeme Atkinson as a "far-right-lite" coalition - include Greek and Slovak extreme nationalists. Nikki Sinclaire, Ukip's first openly lesbian MEP, concedes to having "reservations" about her new allies. "All the parties [of Freedom and Democracy] have signed up to a statement saying they oppose all forms of discrimination. But it is difficult. I think this is going to evolve over the next couple of months."

The Freedom and Democracy coalition is in part a shrewd move to block the more extreme far-right parties, such as the BNP, from forming a coalition - Lega Nord was initially touted as a possible partner for the BNP. However, it creates a potentially more toxic alternative. Most of the British MEPs are now in alliances with extreme conservatives, with whom they will be seeking a common position on a range of issues, from equality legislation to the Convention on Human Rights.

UKIP: Don't waste your vote on 23rd July

I would advise the residents of Norwich North to reject UKIP’s Glenn Tingle when they go to cast their vote in the by-election tomorrow.

UKIP exists solely to keep Farage and his sycophants on the Brussels Gravy Train. For over 10 years UKIP has had MEPs and yet we are STILL no closer to seeing Great Britain leave the EU.

Money has been squandered and opportunities wasted. They could not even be bothered to campaign against the Lisbon Treaty!

The only way to free the UK is by winning seats at Westminster. And yet UKIP stripped the branches of their funds - including money intended for the General Election - in order to fight the Euros. This clearly proves that they are not interested in winning power in the UK.

They rigged the MEP selection process, they conducted witch-hunts against all those who dared to question Farage’s leadership skills, they joined forces with neo-fascists, they claimed millions in expenses and yet refused to say where the money went and last but not least they are under investigation by OLAF.

Voters, Farage and his fellow UKIP MEPs are now part of the EU establishment. They are not interested in you or your children. They are only interested in increasing the size of their bank accounts. They are now part of the problem.

Until Nigel Farage and his sycophants are removed don’t waste your vote on this joke party or their sock puppet PPC.

UKIP: Dr Edmond on John West, Annabelle Fuller, UKIP and the BNP.

Another well written article by Dr Edmond:

About a year ago John West's UKIP media test interview was posted on YouTube with the derogatory title "How not to do Politics". No one ever owned up to putting this supposedly confidential interview on a public web site for all to see. Ms Fuller had a copy of the interview on her laptop which she claims was left in the back of a taxi and returned to her anonymously a few days later. A trip to Morocco also figured in this tale somewhere. I was on the NEC when the matter came up and the then chairman John Whittaker closed down any possibly further investigation saying "I am not inclined to take the matter further"

Today I read in my Daily Telegraph, top of page 2, the banner headline "BNP to siphon off EU expenses". The initial paragraph states "The BNP intend to funnel tens of thousands of taxpayers money to its chosen causes to drum up support in the run-up to the general election." Reading on one finds this statement is more than a little misleading. It seems that the two BNP MEPs have agreed to give 10% of their annual £80000 pa salary plus their unused accommodation and travel allowances to a "community chest" to support "worthwhile local projects" like St George's Day celebrations.

This is brilliant as next year's St George's day is very likely to fall in the middle of the UK General Election campaign. Even better, the EU will try to block Griffin and Brons from using their allowances in this way! Its against the rules says the EU. This is a godsend to the BNP. Corrupt MPs obey rules to feather their nest, OK. BNP MEPs breaking the rules to promote local projects, not OK. Put it alongside the unelected Glennys Kinnock and the EU establishment discriminating against BNP democratically elected MEPs and the BNP will emerge as persecuted by the EU and will therefore garner much of the anti-EU vote and what is left of the MP expenses protest vote in the 2010 General Election.

In any free society Griffin and Brons can spend their salary how they like. Some MEPs choose to spend it in the bars, restaurants, gay bars and bordellos of Brussels and Strasbourg! When I stood as a UKIP MEP candidate I stated at all the hustings that I would give all my EU salary to UKIP, something which did not endear me to the UKIP party apparatchiks. I put this on my election website: www.ericedmond.com where it still is and can be checked by anyone interested. At one husting I remember describing EU money as 'dirty money' that I personally would not touch. I am sure these sentiments played a big part in my expulsion from the UKIP NEC and my deselection from my democratically elected position on the South West MEP candidate list!

If Farage's UKIP have any real intent to get us out of the EU then they better start fighting the battle on the right ground, the UK, this many sceptred isle, and not waste their time in Brussels and Strasbourg.

If UKIP don't the BNP will clearly move into the UK vacuum left by UKIP's obsession with EU money and its pointless, powerless talking shop, the EU assembly.

End of article.

UKIP MEPs are far too greedy to EVEN think about donating part of their salary to good causes in this country.

Farage and his sycophants are now part of the EU establishment. Their sole aim is to stay on the EU Gravy Train and enlarge their bank balances at the expense of the British taxpayer. End of story!

UKIP: Anti-Nazi League supporters campaign against UKIP's Norwich North PPC

As I predicted supporters of the Anti-Nazi League - also known as Anal - have been campaigning against UKIP in Norwich North.

At the weekend a number of ‘Anal’ supporters spotted a group of UKIPPERS and started chanting “UKIP scum off our streets”.

The UKIP activists quickly retreated to the safety of their car and left the area.

Anal supporters have vowed to target future UKIP meetings and have also threatened to disrupt UKIP’s national conference later this year.

I wonder what the odious Mark Croucher - left-wing extremist and supporter of Searchlight magazine - makes of all this?

As a self-proclaimed ‘Anti-Fascist’ can we now expect him to pass on details of future UKIP activities in order to please his communist friends in Anal and Searchlight? Or is his ‘Anti-Fascist’ crusade solely directed at the BNP on the orders of Nigel Farage who is terrified that the BNP will eventually derail the UKIP Gravy Train and deprive him of a cushy life in Brussels at the expense of the British taxpayer?

UKIP: The Anti-Nazi League turn their guns on Nigel Farage and UKIP

The leaders of Anti- Nazi League are not too happy with Nigel Farage and his MEPs after they joined forces with the neo-fascists in the new EU Parliament.

Anti-Nazi League leaflets have already been distributed in Brussels and there are plans for League members to demonstrate at future UKIP meetings, including UKIP’s next party conference.

Here is the text taken from one of their leaflets:

STOP THE NAZI GROUP IN THE EP

The new parliamentary group, Europe of Freedom and Democracy, headed by UKIP Leader Nigel Farage, stands for neither freedom nor democracy.

This Group includes:

Morten Messerschmidt - sentenced to 14 days conditional imprisonment for violation of Penal Code Section 266b (a racist offence) in 2002.

In 2007, this "gentleman", was forced to resign his political post in Denmark after being seen "Heiling Hitler" and singing Nazi songs in a Copenhagen bar.

Messerschmidt's party, the DPP, was rejected by the new British Conservative group, and stands condemned by the Paris based European Jewish Congress for its approach to the immigration. The DPP has also been accused of Islamophobia. Nonetheless, it has found a home in the group Europe of Freedom and Democracy.

The True Finns Party - which wishes to restrict entry to Finland for foreigners. Its leader, Timo Soini, was the only Finnish party leader to refuse to sign an anti-racism declaration in April 2009. He will sit as an MEP in the group Europe of Freedom and Democracy.

Lega Nord - In March 2006 this Italian party was expelled from the Independence & Democracy Group when a senior member of the UK Independence Party said that the group "faced a crisis because the Lega Nord was becoming increasingly extreme on the subject of race, and persistently put links to extremist organisations on its website."

Now they will not only sit in UKIP's Europe of Freedom and Democracy group, but are expected to be offered the group's co-presidency. Nigel Farage will tell you that Lega Nord is "reformed". Is it?

MEP Mario Borghezio, convicted of assaulting a 12 year old child in 1993, and setting fire to the possessions of a vagrant during a vigilante raid in 2005, was arrested by Belgian police for anti-Islamic offences as recently as 2007.

Former Farage colleague and Ind Dem MEP Matteo Salvini was forced to resign from the Italian Parliament just last week. He had called for racial segregation on Milan's busses, and was filmed chanting racist slogans.

The party is particularly notorious for its homophobic position. In 2007, Giancarlo Gentilini, Lega Nord's deputy mayor of Treviso, called for the "ethnic cleansing" of homosexuals." I will immediately give orders to my forces so that they can carry out an ethnic cleansing of faggots," he told a local tv station. "The faggots must go to other cities where they are welcome. Here in Treviso there is no chance for faggots or the like."

In that same year he taunted Pecoraro Scanio, Italian Minister of the Environment and an open bisexual, saying: "In Gorgo, a woman was raped with a chisel in the back and in the front. I say to Pecoraro Scanio that I want the same thing happens to his mother and his sister."

Leader of Lega Nord, Umberto Bossi, himself a former MEP and member of the Ind Dem group, has said that migrants heading for Italy should be “blown out of the water” by the Italian Navy.
Leader of Britain's far-right BNP, Nick Griffin said last week, about boats bringing refugees to Britain: "Frankly, they need to sink several of those boats. Anyone coming up with measures like that we'll support."

Perhaps the BNP should join the EFD?

Parliamentarians - we call on you to turn your backs on these racists and homophobes. There should be no place in the EP for Nazis!

End of text.

For months Farage has been attacking the BNP and spreading lies that they have infiltrated UKIP in order to justify various expulsions and his attempts to change UKIP's constitution. Despite this he now finds himself targeted by the BNP's most bitter enemy.

Poetic justice!

UKIP: Who has been a naughty boy then?

A UKIP MEP - one of the new intake - was spotted at 3 am this morning leaving a notorious gay club in Strasbourg

He was seen by the researcher of a Tory MEP leaving the club in the company of a black man. What Mr X was doing in a gay club at that time of the morning should perhaps be left to the imagination!

There has been constant speculation in UKIPPER circles about this MEP’s sexuality ever since he first joined UKIP. He has always denied being a homosexual and has repeatedly said that he is "still looking for the right woman".

I hate to disappoint him but I don’t think he will find her in that particular club!

UKIP: Derek Clark & OLAF

My sources tell me that OLAF’s investigation into the allegations that Derek Clark misused his EU allowances is moving along nicely.

And at long last the press are finally beginning to take an interest in this obnoxious individual.

Last month the Derbyshire Times featured the story in their newspaper and on their website.

Euro MP under investigation by fraud squad

Saturday, June 13, 2009, 07:30

A FRAUD investigation has been launched into the activities of an East Midlands European politician.

Derek Clark was re-elected as an MEP for the East Midlands, covering Derbyshire, following the June 4 elections.

But the United Kingdom Independence Party MEP has been under investigation by the European anti-fraud office, OLAF, for more than a year.

When the Telegraph asked the fraud office what the investigation was about and when it was due to be completed, it said it had no comment to make.

Mr Clark said he was aware of the investigation but had not been informed about what it concerned.

He said: "I know nothing about the details of this. I've not been told by OLAF."

A spokesman for UKIP said he thought the investigation related to a former employee but had not heard anything officially through the European anti-fraud team.

He said he felt people were abusing the fraud investigation process.

"If someone makes a complaint, OLAF has to by law have an investigation and give it a case number which is sent to the complainant."

He said that after 18 months of investigations, Mr Clark had yet to be questioned, and knew nothing about the allegations made against him.

"If there was something to find it would have been found."Mr Clark lives in Northampton. Police there said they were aware of the case, but it was not a police matter.

End of article. To view the original: LINK

It is interesting to note that Clark has said that “I know nothing about the details”. Has Clark forgotten that OLAF officers are obliged to tell him what he is being investigated for? So after 18 months Clark knows nothing? Or is Clark lying yet again?

Derek Clark OLAF Case Number: D/007/033/04.09.08. Derek Clark OLAF Investigation Number: DD/FD-D2008.A1/7133/OF/2008/0240

UKIP: Dr Edmond on Nigel Farage's sordid deal with the Italian fascists

Another excellent article by Dr Edmond:

So the deal is done. UKIP has allied itself to the Italian fascists to secure more money, a bigger office and bragging rights for NF in the EU talking shop. I do not see how this advances by one iota our cause of getting our country back under our control. What will UKIP do with this extra money? They already have 13 extremely well paid MEPs with very large expense accounts!

NF seems to think that what he gets up to in Brussels will not be reported by the media in the UK. He has been right in this assumption so far but following the MP expenses scandal the British press have got the taste of elected representatives blood. They have savaged our MPs and next will come our MEPs who are a far less able but much greedier bunch. The alliance with the Nord Liga and their ilk will prove to be a spectaclar own goal by NF giving our media all the ammunition to portray UKIP MEPs as a bunch of hypocrites.

The EU rules requiring a group to comprise at least 25 members from 7 different countries is there to ensure we all behave like good Europeans, do the Commissions bidding and forget our country. All of this for a pitiful bribe that no self respecting Mafioso would get out of bed for! It has been the tactic used for the last 50 years to implement Monnet's dream of an European nation to rival the great Satan, the USA. By joining such a group UKIP embeds our country ever deeper in the EU mire. Worse they deny those who genuinely want to leave the EU the oxygen of media exposure to further our cause of withdrawal.

Ask yourself why the EU propaganda machine called the BBC gave so much time to Nigel Farage in the run up to 4th June. Simple, it furthers their aim of of turning our country into a European region. The UKIP grass roots who idolise Nigel Farage think he gets on the media so much because he is a wonderful media performer. Mr Farage of course encourages this view amongst the faithful and certainly believes it himself! He should remember the fate of Hollywood stars when they start to believe their own publicity!

The truth is the BBC gives UKIP and Farage so much exposure because it enables them to deprive the genuine withdrawalist parties who want nothing to do with the EU of media time. Farage's presence ensures they can claim their output is "balanced" but of course it is only balanced to the BBC agenda.

Today Alastair Darling announced his great new package on financial regulation. More power to the FSA. To cement this I predict the next Governor of the Bank of England will be Lord Turner, the current head of the FSA. HMG pretends to the UK public it still regulates UK financial services. But as the Daily Telegraph business section puts it today "the EU dog will not only bark but take a bite out of the City". The EU already has its financial regulatory system finalised based Spanish and French current practice. The voting on this will be done under rules that ensure the UK cannot block these new rules.

As the Telegraph's front business page proclaims,

"EU reforms to take away UK voting powers"

No QMV allowed, so what on earth is the point of Darling's proposals. They are a gigantic expensive pointless exercise. Does HMG still not realise Brussels rules the UK from the day they ratified the EU superstate in the Lisbon Treaty?

UKIP: Mark Croucher, liar, left-wing extremist and friend of Nigel Farage

Mark Croucher is one of the more obnoxious supporters of UKIP. He is a supporter of the far-left, pro-EU ‘Searchlight’ magazine and regularly posts lies on the British Democracy Forum on behalf of his boss Nigel Farage.

For more details on this odious individual see: LINK & LINK

For several weeks he has been telling UKIPPERS that I am Piers Merchant - I am not - but still conveniently refuses to provide any real evidence to support his lies.

Fortunately, Croucher’s lies have now been exposed on the Forum for all to see. Perhaps the moderators will now do their duty and ban him.

Here is Barboo’s - aka Barbara Booker - excellent comments on Croucher’s lies.

So by revealing what you now admit was nothing more than a possibility that Piers Merchant might be Junius in a thread which you entitled 'Junius unmasked', you were deliberately smearing Piers with an allegation for which you had no proof.

Added to which, having discovered that Piers could have been receiving blind copies of emails sent to the gensec@ukip.org address, you lied about the speed with which information contained in such emails appeared on Junius's blog, in an attempt to implicate Piers as the source of the leaks.

You stated at Junius unmasked that:

1) you were asked on 14 April to carry out an investigation concerning a UKIP candidate, and within 24 hours of a relevant letter from Dave Challis being emailed to you it appeared on the Junius blog.

This is untrue. Dave Challis's letter, written to Paul Nuttall on 9 April and presumably copied to general secretary Jonathan Arnott at the same time, did not appear on Junius's blog until 21 April, ie. between five and seven days after being copied to you, and twelve days after it was originally sent.

2) having agreed with Paul Nuttall that you should investigate the source of the leak of the Challis letter (bearing in mind that at this date there was nothing to suggest that a leak had occurred at all), you say that on 16 April you emailed Jonathan Arnott false information regarding yourself replacing Ralph Atkinson on the London MEP list, and that again within 24 hours this false information appeared on the internet. In post #40 of 'Junius unmasked' you qualify this by saying the first mention of this false rumour was on Junius's blog, from which you quote: "The big question is, with Fat Boy Dim out of the way . . . . is Farage preparing to parachute his old mucker from the pub into the soon to be vacant slot?"

Again, you lie. Junius's suggestion that you might replace Ralph Atkinson, together with his Fat Boy Dim comment, was not blogged within 24 hours of 16 April; nor was it blogged separately and subsequently to his posting of the Challis letter as stated by you. The letter, the rumour and the Fat Boy Dim remark were all blogged by Junius on 21 April, with the rumour referred to again on 27 April - Junius on UKIP: April 2009

Why did you find it necessary to lie ?

End of her post

Since her post was published the odious Croucher has gone rather quiet on the subject of Junius. I wonder why?

UK First collapses: Holdsworth, West, Petley and Belobaba resign

UK First has collapsed.

Petrina Holdsworth, John Petley, John West and Drew Belobaba have all resigned from UK First in disgust after Peter Cole took it upon himself to ignore the committee and send members a letter - all 35 of them it seems - appointing himself judge, jury and executioner.

Here are the resignation letters sent from both John West and Drew Belobaba to UK First:

It was Goodnight from her and now it's Goodnight from me!

Dear All,

I have received the letter from Peter Cole and frankly I am appalled by it.

It appears Mr Cole has made the decision to ignore the Committee and will henceforth make all the decisions himself.

HE has decided to hold an interim leadership election. HE has decided that the interim leader will choose a new interim committee and HE has decided to appoint himself returning officer.I had no idea UKFP had become a dictatorship! Should we rename UKFP the PeterColeFirstParty? Or how about Peter Cole’s Huge Bloody Ego Party?

This is totally unacceptable. There is little point in Mr Cole condemning the likes of Farage, Curtis, Reeve and Nuttall if he is prepared to copy their methods and resort to the same dirty tricks.

But should we be surprised at this latest development? Sadly no.

Mr Cole has been acting like a petulant child for weeks. When Drew kindly put forward a proposed agenda Peter Cole had a temper tantrum and sent the Committee a resignation email. In this email he said he was taking the website domain names with him. And all because Drew had proposed an agenda for a meeting that did not meet with Mr Cole‘s approval!

Mr Cole refuses to give details of the current membership (last I heard it was 35) and also refuses to accept my position on the Committee. And this is despite my appointment being agreed by all those who took part in the last telephone conference, including Bruce Lawson who proposed me.

Bruce Lawson is sadly little better. He ignores emails (another John Whittaker in the making) and seems to have vanished off the face of the planet. Since the election UK First has done nothing. Bruce could not even be bothered to make a statement on the UKFP website about the EU election results.

We have already lost more than one important supporter due to Bruce’s total apathy. And losing John Petley and Petrina Holdsworth now means UKFP South East is dead and buried.

Thanks Peter and Bruce. Any more bright ideas? Or is that what you wanted?

I wanted UKFP to fight Norwich North but Bruce could not even be bothered to reply to my emails.

He sends me a letter apologising for changing the MEP list without the consent of Robin or myself ( Peter and Bruce thought Robin would get in. When they found out Robin was only going to do a year and then step down in favour of me they quickly moved Peter up to number two. Perhaps Peter needs the money!) but then within days he starts phoning people up and attacking me.

Make your mind up Bruce!

I am afraid I can’t continue to support a party that is happy to allow Bruce Lawson or Peter Cole to hold positions of authority.

I am afraid UK First is doomed to suffer a slow lingering death. Such a shame. Nigel Farage must be laughing over there in Brussels!

Please accept my resignation from UK First and please remove all my details from your website. I will, of course, be removing all UK First data from my UK First blog.

Goodbye and see you round the clubs as George Harrison used to say. And for those of you too young to remember George was a Beatle.

John Leslie West

Dear everyone

I have just arrived back from Gibraltar to find an interesting letter in the post and a very depressing series of emails in my inbox.

It seems that Peter Cole is intent on running the party as his own personal little dictatorship. By accident or by design, Bruce Lawson is allowing him to do so.

I have always believed that when you join a political party you check your ego at the door and do you damndest to get along with other members, no matter how difficult they may be. Obviously there are several people in the party who do not subscribe to that view.

I thought that UK First had tremendous potential following our successful election results. However some people seem intent on turning it into their own little fiefdom instead of putting aside the past and working for the future.

Frankly I have better things to do in my life than to waste my time promoting what is rapidly turning into another little vanity party for a few people with delusions of political grandeur.

I therefore have decided to join the rapidly growing list of ex-UKF members (Petrina, John W and John P) and resign from the UKF Consensus Committee. I also resign my membership in the party. I would be much obliged if in the future I do not receive any communications from UKF.

Kind regards

Drew Belobaba

End of letters.

Sadly, Peter Cole's ego has destroyed UK First. He is now in charge of a party without talent, money or members. The man is a fool!

UKIP: Clive Page should start to pack his bags!

I must say that Monday’s UKIP NEC meeting was very poorly attended.

Farage was his usual arrogant self.

He wasted no time in voicing his anger that Nikki Sinclaire - UKIP's new MEP for the West Midlands - was raising concerns about UKIP’s new grouping in Brussels. Farage made it clear that she could leave UKIP if she did not like it. He also said that Mike Nattrass could join her if he continued to support Sinclaire on this issue.

It also seems likely that Clive Page’s contract will not be renewed as Farage has two of his old colleagues and sycophants - Mark Croucher and Annabelle Fuller - ready to take his place in the Press Office.

As Clive Page has been out of favour for several months - he had been very unhappy working with Fuller and did not approve of her posting John West's video on YouTube - it will hardly come as a surprise to him.

But don’t expect to read this in the sanitised minutes published on the UKIP fan site also known as the UKIP Forum.

UKIP’s NEC minutes contain more fiction than the latest issue of the Sunday Sport!

Remember the NEC meeting held last year? Buster Mottram was invited by Nigel Farage to give a presentation on the possibilities of UKIP forming a pact with the BNP.

But you won’t read that in the ‘official’ minutes for that particular meeting!

Farage later claimed that the offer of a BNP pact was a total surprise to him and proceeded to use it as an excuse to remove his various critics from the NEC!

Greg Lance-Watkins has quite rightly referred to it as Farage’s ‘Reichstag fire moment’.

Still think that UKIP is worth a SINGLE vote?

UKIP: More on Nigel Farage's new racist friends

There has been a lot of speculation about the racists and homophobes that Farage has formed a pact with in the European Parliament. I can now reveal that the Brussels press pack are closing in on the one that everybody has missed so far.

The delightfully named Morten Messerschmidt is one of two Danish MEPs to be joining Farage's group.

In 2002, Messerschmidt received a jail sentence for incitement to racial hatred. But it gets worse - much worse.

In 2007, Messerschmidt was forced to resign from the Danish government after he was seen "Heiling Hitler" and singing Nazi marching songs in a bar in Copenhagen. He has subsequently denied some of the allegations, although at the time he confessed, and did the decent thing by standing down.

Now he is back, as an MEP, and will be sitting alongside Farage and his 12 disciples.

This is an absolute betrayal of UKIP, its members, and our country. With UKIP sitting alongside such people - (even Nick Griffin was not handed a prison sentence for his racist conviction) - surely it is no longer respectable to be a UKIP member.

So desperate was Farage to be president of an EP group, to further his own career, that he did this to UKIP.

Please click on the link below for more information on Morton Messerschmidt:

UKIP's new fascist friends in the EU

More and more people are becoming aware of UKIP’s dishonesty and barefaced lies. Is there really anyone still left out there who is stupid enough to believe that UKIP is nothing more than a vehicle for Farage and his sycophants to stay on the EU Gravy Train?

Here is an article take from the General Election blog:

UKIP have the kind of strange bed fellows in the new European Parliament that must make the BNP MEPs envious, if not downright jealous.

The following is about the Lega Nord, UKIP's new partners in the EU Parliament: Lega Nord.

The following is from the BNP website:

An Italian town has proposed giving jobless immigrants a one-off €2,000 euro payment as long as they agree to live elsewhere.

The town council is controlled by the Northern League, which has previously called on the Italian navy to sink boats trying to smuggle in illegal immigrants from North Africa.

“We’re ready to give 2,000 Euros to each family as long they go and live elsewhere,” said Manola Spolverato, 39, a councillor in the town of Spresiano, north of Venice in the north-east Veneto region.

“It would cost less than supporting families who are in difficulty. It’s not right that the council should be compelled to support, at its own expense, immigrants who have lost their jobs.”

The Northern League’s leaders have welcomed the idea and have suggested extending it to other towns.

The party — La Lega Nord in Italian — wants greater autonomy for the wealthy regions of Italy’s north, including the Veneto.

It attracted eight percent of the national vote at April’s general election, doubling its support base, and was made a key part of prime minister Silvio Berlusconi’s conservative coalition.

One of its campaign posters featured a picture of a Native American with the slogan: “They were subjected to immigration and now they live on reserves!”

The mugs who thought UKIP could get them out of the EU have served their purpose, UKIP is now reverting to type. Heil Farage!

Be careful in Norwich North and the general election, don't fall for UKIP's lies.

UKIP airbrush Dr Edmond out of their history

More from Dr Edmond:

I have never belonged to any other political party other than UKIP. I joined because I wanted to get our country back for our children. From my time in the civil service I already knew how conventional political parties operated and how self seeking and venal our so called political leaders were. Me first, party next, country last, sums up their attitude and values. There is only thing politicians care about, getting re-elected and keeping their membership of the best club in London.

I joined UKIP in the hope it was free from the corruption and sleaze endemic in the main parties. At the local level I found it was. Members were there for our cause and were honest, decent and caring. I was asked by Trevor Colman after some comments I made at a meeting he addressed to come to the regional meetings and help organise opposition to post office closures in rural areas. At these meetings I met Alan Wood, a UKIP district councillor who sadly lost his seat on 4th June, and together we worked on parish polls and then moved on to help organising Westminster constituency wide polls against the Lisbon Treaty in both Jim Murphy's seat in East Renfrewshire and Gordon Brown's seat in Dunfermline. Trevor did brilliantly with his parish polls and our constituency wide polls idea was picked up by the Democracy Movement who financed and ran these polls in 10 key Westminster Seats. The results showed how overwhelming was the opposition to Lisbon in the UK and got a lot of publicity.

These were great grass roots campaigns but at the end of it I was left wondering where was Nigel Farage? I soon found out. I was asked to stand for the NEC by Malcolm Wood as the South West, the region with the largest UKIP membership in the country had no NEC representation. I offered to stand down in favour of David Bendall the other SW candidate but this was refused and no one was more surprised than me when I was elected. I attended my first NEC meeting on Monday 7th April 2008 where I met Nigel Farage and his ruling NEC cabal. It was immediately apparent the only independent NEC members were me, David Abbott and Del Young and that the remainder were just a rubber stamp for Farage. UKIP was just another typical UK political party owned by its leadership!

I even had Mr Gill tell me that Nigel Farage was UKIP's greatest asset, a view I told him I could not agree with.

UKIP's leadership were just like all other UK politicians, only interested in getting themselves re-elected. They had done nothing in the UK to oppose the Lisbon Treaty. I heard about all the wonderful committee work they had done in Brussels committees and in Ireland where they had jumped on the Ganley bandwagon but in the UK not one thing! It seemed to come as news to several NEC members that the Lisbon Treaty was going through a Lords committee stage!

I was shocked and disappointed to find UKIP no different from all the other UKP parties but I determined to soldier on. I and David Abbott were then subject to a series of smears and dirty tricks ending in our expulsion from the NEC. Like our corrupt MPs the cabal's defence was they have acted within the rules and who cares about the ethics or morality of expelling democratically elected representatives. The cabal does not do ethics or morality only self interest!

I went on supporting UKIP as best I could given the cabal's efforts to silence me. At the behest of Ian Proctor in early December I recorded 3 videos for use during the election campagn including one entitled "Why vote UKIP". These were done unscripted as test pieces and videoed excellently by Doug Dawson but were deemed good enough to be posted on the SW UKIP web site where they attracted around 700 hits. I went on to look at my efforts in early May and found my support for UKIP video had disappeared! No one I asked knew who had done this. It must have been the fairies and I could have a good guess at which fairy it was!

I had taken the precaution of copying from YouTube this video. The quality is not as good as the original but to any who say I did not support UKIP please click on the link below:

Why you should vote UKIP

This video exposes the lies and smears that have been told about me opposing UKIP. I only ever supported UKIP! Its removal shows how there are those in UKIP's ruling cabal who wish to erase and rewrite history as in Orwell's classics, 1984 and Animal Farm. I can only ascribe its removal to UKIP's cabal's blind hatred and petty spite. It was a video that could only have helped UKIP's cause. View it and judge for yourself!

I still stand for what I wrote in my election address last year:

Eric Edmond Election Address

I hope all UKIP MEPs will support my pledges but I doubt they will.

The other two videos I recorded in early Dec 08 on why the Euro will eventually fail and the UK government run out of money. I post for the record.

UKIP is not a withdrawalist party

Last year Dr Eric Edmond was thrown off the NEC for trying to raise concerns about corruption in UKIP.

I would advise anyone interested in UKIP to read his excellent blog. Here is a recent extract:

That has been the British political tradition of tolerating within parties those who support the cause but not the leadership. One thinks of Ken Livingston, Wedgewood Benn, Enoch Powell, and Churchill etc. Why is this important? Well in the long run some of these mavericks have been proven right!

Farage’s UKIP however does not follow this tradition. As it is currently constituted UKIP behaves as European dirigiste party, centrally controlled and directed, subservient to one man. Just like these European parties Farage's UKIP has only one way of responding to members who criticise the leader's cabal, anonymous personal smears and character assassination followed by deselection and expulsion. Real debate is not allowed; tolerance is not practised only subservience to the leader. It is an EU model party, based in Brussels, financed by Brussels and run from Brussels.

If we seriously want to get out of the EU this has to change. We have to return to traditional British political values of tolerance and fair play and have a party based in, run from, and financed in the UK, as is every other British political party.

I echo James Purnell’s words and sentiments: “I owe it to our party to say what I believe no matter how hard that may be.

I want to get the UK out of the EU and regain control of our country for our children. I want to see us have a Switzerland type relationship with the EU covering trade etc but controlling our country ourselves.

I believe Nigel Farage’s continued leadership of UKIP makes a UK withdrawal from the EU less, not more likely.

UKIP & the Lega Nord: Matteo Salvini forced to resign amid allegations of racism

A Lega Nord Parliamentarian has been forced to resign amid allegations of racism today!

Matteo Salvini was one of the Lega Nord MEPs at the time of that group's expulsion from Ind Dem due to their racist activities.

Now Farage has attempted to portray the Lega as "rehabilitated". But it seems they are as vile as ever. Salvini, who recently called for racial segregation on Milan's buses, has just been forced to resign his seat in the Italian Parliament after being filmed making racist chants.

Given his high position on the Lega's euro list, does this mean that he will pop up again as an MEP to sit in Farage's new group?

Another member of Farage's new group has actually been to jail for his racist rantings, something Farage hopes will not come out in the media. It will come.

UKIP: Nigel Farage goes native!

If any further proof were needed of Farage's "going native", and his desire to create a career for himself in the EU Institutions he claims to despise, then here it is.

The European Parliament has what are known rather pretentiously as "Questors". These are MEPs who have special responsibility for overseeing the smooth running of the parliament, and in particular for security.

Farage has asked that his new group be given a Questor's office.

What will be next? Co-Presidency of the Parliament?

Godfrey Bloom: UKIP's resident idiot MEP

Here is an interesting email exchange between Godfrey Bloom - UKIP MEP, fool and drunkard - and two of his fellow British MEPs:

Sorry to spam, but for accuracy's sake the Commission paper is a RECOMMENDATION.

i.e. it is NOT BINDING on any member state. It is basically a set of best practice (WHO) guidelines.

It is entirely up to each member state to decide for itself what policy to adopt re. smoking in public.

Subject: RE: From nanny state to bully state. Enough is enough!!!

Dear Colleagues

As someone who has never smoked but nevertheless always retained a sense of proportion on the matter of a call to ban smoking in my country (originally favouring a partial ban only), I have to say after a couple of cigarette smoke free years in London I am as a doctor and politician fully now signed-up to the banning of smoking in pubs and clubs throughout the UK, which may well be the model the EU wishes to pursue for the rest of the Union. Though personally I think it best done by legislating at member state level.

Godfrey as a smoker himself naturally speaks for the smokers who are it's true increasingly a persecuted minority but he conveniently forgets not just the majority non smoking public who have to put up with the passive smoking damaging effect on their health every time they go for a drink (something I am familiar with when I enter for a pint of beer in O'Farrels which is thick with a cloud of smoke in the winter when they have no ventilation to speak of and in part generated by the UKIP MEPs present!) but of even greater public health importance is the damaging effects long term on the bar staff who cannot just walk away and are subject to an occupational hazard which the comprehensive banning of smoking will abolish or dramatically reduce.

To: MEP & ASSISTANTS

Subject: From nanny state to bully state. Enough is enough!!!

EU plans launched today to ban all smoking in public places, including beer gardens, parks festivals and the like were greeted by disbelief and a call to action from Godfrey Bloom MEP.

The EU has called for a ban on smoking in “enclosed public places” but they define this in a quite ridiculous fashion.

“the definition of "public places" should cover all places accessible to the general public or places for collective use, regardless of ownership or right to access. It is further recommended that “indoor” (or “enclosed”) areas be defined to include any space covered by a roof or enclosed by one or more walls or sides, regardless of the type of material used for the roof, wall or sides, and regardless of whether the structure is permanent or temporary”.

“Enough is enough”, said Bloom, “today 6 pubs will close in the UK. Today part of our culture is under threat. Today is the time to say enough is enough. These jumped up puritan dictators must be told where to get off."

Nobody pretends that smoking is a good thing, but it is legal. So why don't they come clean and announce an outright ban? Because they daren't. Making 12 million Britons criminals overnight might be going a little too far even for them. But making them second class citizens, well it seems that is no problem”.

These bullies seem to have no truck with freedom, liberty or tolerance. Well in that case we shall have to take it back. And if that means a certain level of civil disobedience, well so be it!

UKIP: The sheer hypocrisy of Nigel Farage

UKIP’s corrupt leadership regularly denounce the BNP and have publicly stated that they would never work with them.

Last year Nigel Farage said:

"There are no circumstances, no possible situations, in which we would even consider doing any type of deal with the BNP whatsoever.

"I'm simply amazed that the BNP thought we would even consider such a thing, given that we are a non-racist, non-sectarian party."

So how are we to explain Farage’s decision to join forces with the Northern League?

It appears that Farage’s stand against the BNP was not principled at all, as he has aligned UKIP with a party that makes the BNP look like a bunch of Guardian readers!

That Farage is a cynical opportunist WITHOUT a single shred of decency is now obvious to all but the most stupid of UKIP’s members and supporters.

Clearly Farage’s stand against the BNP was motivated not by principles but by a desire to appease the left-wing UK media in order to gain their support.

Here is a very interesting article on UKIP's new friends in Brussels:

The old eurosceptic Independence/Democracy group in the European Parliament was kept more or less respectable largely thanks to the influence of its former joint leader Jens-Peter Bonde, who stemmed from the relatively moderate lefty side of euroscepticism. Now, however, Bonde has retired and his old June Movement was wiped out at the European elections – along with its Polish equivalent – and the Ind/Dem group died with them.

But now, from the ashes, UKIP leader Nigel Farage (the former joint leader of Ind/Dem) has managed to salvage an alliance – with 30 MEPs from 8 countries (where the EP requires 25 MEPs from 7 countries for an official group to qualify for funding and committee places). But where the old Ind/Dem group was confined largely to criticising the EU and calling for repatriation of powers to the member states by the restraining influence of the left-wing anti-EU parties, this new group appears to be taking a decidedly more hardline nationalist approach, characterised primarily by strongly anti-immigration rhetoric.

UKIP dominates the new group with 13 MEPs, and for this we should be grateful – because they seem to be one of the most moderate parties in the thing.

Their major partners are Italy’s Lega Nord, with 9 representatives. What do these chaps – part of Berlusconi’s broad church right-wing governing coalition – believe? Well, let’s ask Wikipedia…

The party is often described as “xenophobic” and “anti-immigrant”. [Leader] Umberto Bossi himself, described African immigrants as Bingo-bongos, in an interview suggested opening fire on the boats of illegal immigrants who would disembark in Italy.

In 2002 Erminio Boso, a Lega Nord politician from the Province of Trento, proposed a separate train for immigrants and Italians. In 2003 he former Mayor of Treviso, Giancarlo Gentilini, while in office, spoke about those he called “immigrant slackers”, saying, “We should dress them up like hares and bang-bang-bang”.

Add to that the call by one of the party’s deputy mayors for “an ethnic cleansing of faggots”, and I’m sure you’ll agree that UKIP have chosen some regular charmers. But it doesn’t end there…

There’s also a couple of MEPs from the anti-immigration
Dansk Folkeparti, whose leader, Pia Kjærsgaard, lost a 2003 libel action against a political opponent who accused the party of having “racist policies” – making the DPP an officially racist organisation. DPP politicians have also come under fire for comparing the Qu-ran to Hitler’s Mein Kampf (evidently unaware of Godwin’s Law), while others are on record as saying “In many ways, we are anti-Muslims”.

Slightly less mad is the MEP from the Dutch Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij – they just want the Netherlands to be reformed along strict Calvinist lines, with all laws to be derived from the Bible.

There’s also a couple of True Finns (Perussuomalaiset), who have also been involved with the Tories’ new centre-right eurosceptic grouping, one of whose party members is currently facing two years in jail on race hate charges for describing all foreigners as “criminals”, and asylum-seekers as “gang-rapists” and “parasites”.

Then there’s a couple of MEPs from the delightful Greek Laïkós Orthódoxos Synagermós – former members of Ind/Dem who have been repeatedly accused of anti-semitism (including their founder/leader, who is alleged to have called for a debate on “the Auschwitz and Dachau myth”, claimed the Protocols of the Elders of Zion are a reality, and blamed “the Jews” for the September 11th 2001 attacks.

The new group has already been described as being “far-right lite” – with UKIP accused of hoping to tone down some of the more overtly racist/fascist rhetoric of their new partners and repackaging the strongly anti-immigration stance that is the new group’s one binding ideology into a more friendly, populist package.

But will it last? The last racist group in the European Parliament, the short-lived Identity, Tradition, Sovereignty soon fell apart when its members all realised that the other members were, well, filthy foreigners. Could the same happen to UKIP’s new group? And is UKIP – a party that has striven hard in the last few years to shake off its past image as being xenophobic and anti-foreigner – really going to be prepared to be associated with parties with such unpleasant associations?

Yet here’s some confusion… While UKIP refuse to back the Conservative party in the UK thanks to the Tories being centre-right eurosceptics but – crucially – not withdrawalist like UKIP, they seem quite happy to do business with all these parties in their new group in the European Parliament – none of whom, bar UKIP themselves, advocate withdrawing from the EU.

So what is it that makes UKIP think that they have more in common with these European parties than they do with the Tories in the UK? Because the only thing I can see that ties these parties together beyond the standard centre-right euroscepticism that would see them as good fits for the Tories own new group is precisely the hardline, frequently (allegedly) racist approach to immigration.
