The hypocrisy of Nigel Farage

Nigel Farage recently attacked Declan Ganley’s Libertas Party for not being Euroscepitic. In an article published on the internet ( LINK) Farage denounced Ganley as not being " against the European Union, far from it. He's very much a supporter of the project, just wishing it to change slightly, that's all."

Rather conveniently Farage neglected to tell his readers that until last year he was VERY keen to do a deal with Mr Ganley. As late as December he was suggesting to NEC members that UKIP should stop using the word withdrawlist in a effort to win over Ganley.

Geoffrey Collier - UKIP member and one of Farage’s fiercest internet critics - has confirmed that at a meeting in Winchester last summer Farage boasted that ‘He and Ganley were close friends’. Farage then went on to assure the audience that a meeting with Ganley had been arranged for October. Mr Collier questioned the wisdom of this and pointed out that doing deals with EU reformers could cost us votes. An irritated Farage replied that as Ganley was rich UKIP should explore the possibility of an ‘arrangement’.

I can confirm that Farage did in fact meet Ganley in the hope that he would support UKIP. It was suggested that Mr Ganley donate £6 million to UKIP’s EU election fund. Ganley rejected this and quickly started to distance himself from both Farage and UKIP.

Farage was furious at being spurned and now hates Ganley with a passion. As you would expect this particular period in UKIP’s history has now been airbrushed out of existence.

Indeed, we are now expected to believe that Farage never trusted Ganley and would have rejected with utter disgust any proposal to do a deal with him! Fortunately this particular spin has failed to fool those UKIPPERS with long memories!

Incidentally, someone should tell Nigel that it is utter hypocrisy for him to complain about Ganley’s reformist views. After all, who was it who bent the MEP selection rules in order to allow a pro-EU reformist with a dodgy CV to stand as a UKIP MEP candidate?
