UKIP: Christopher Monckton’s Messianic complex
That Christopher Monckton - UKIP’s new joint deputy leader – is a serial liar is beyond doubt.
He lied about being a member of the House of Lords.
He lied about being a science expert.
He lied about winning a libel judgment against the Guardian’s George Monbiot.
He lied about winning the Nobel Prize.
He lied about the BBC broadcasting his article on the Falkland Islands during the Falklands War.

Monckton also appears to possess some rather worrying messianic tendencies.
He claims to have found a cure for the following illnesses:
Graves’ Disease, multiple sclerosis, influenza, and herpes simplex VI. There is no cure for these illnesses.
He also claims to have found a treatment for HIV!
It can only be a matter of time before he announces a cure for cancer, his ability to walk on water and the power to raise the dead!
But what is more worrying is the fact that UKIP is happy to promote his lies on their official website:
2008-present: RESURREXI Pharmaceutical: Director responsible for invention and development of a broad-spectrum cure for infectious diseases. Patents have now been filed. Patients have been cured of various infectious diseases, including Graves’ Disease, multiple sclerosis, influenza, and herpes simplex VI. Our first HIV patient had his viral titre reduced by 38% in five days, with no side-effects. Tests continue.

Monckton was also exposed as a liar after admitting making false claims for marketing purposes, commenting at the time that “History is full of stories that aren’t actually true”.
Monckton had claimed that he had been forced to sell his ancestral home after losing a fortune on a $1 million puzzle.
He later admitted that the story had been invented to boost sales of the puzzle.

Monckton is a personal friend of Lord Pearson and is now being touted as his successor by some senior UKIPPERS. God help them!
you are wrong on several points :
ReplyDelete1..He IS a member of the House of Lords . A temporarily elected government cannot unmake a member of a body whose whole purpose is to limit the power of government.
2.. He has never claimed to be a scientist.
3..He has never claimed the Nobel Prize.
4.. Monbiot appears to be recanting on his wholly admirable admission that he wished he had looked harder at the evidence. He has realised that it doesnt pay for humans to be truthful.
5.. Hereditary Lordships are not the greatest idea but for Gods sake Look at the rest !
No Bill, it is you who are wrong.
ReplyDeleteNobel Prize
Check out Monkton's web site. Third paragraph, 14th line:

House of Lords
The 'Lord's information office will tell you that Monckton is NOT a member. His title was given as a reward for services to the Tory party by his grandfather, if it had been given a year later it would have been a Life Peerage. Indeed Monckton's is from being the sort of hereditary peerage most people think of. No lineage of noble deeds for him. Compared to the likes of someone like Viscount Exmouth for example Monckton just isn't in the same league.
Science
UKIP's own web site credits Monkton with finding a cure for 'Graves Disease' - where do you think they got that from. Certainly not the Lancet!
Truth
To follow your logic Bill, then lying is now a virtue and Monckton one of its greatest exponents?
A quick call to the House of Lords will confirm that Christopher Monckton is not and has never been a Member of the House of Lords. There is no such thing as a “non-voting” or “honorary” member.
ReplyDeleteIf the Information Service at the House of Lords says that a hereditary peer does not have the same rights as a life peer then they are just plain wrong. The present dispensation is to allow a prime minister to sack any member of the Lords he doesnt like and then stuff it with his own appointees.Blair did it and so can Cameron.Noone with half a mind could accept the legitimacy of this.Peers cannot be removed except through Act of Attainder that is why Archer with his criminal record is still there . This all follows logically from my first point.
ReplyDeleteThe Nobel Prize was a joke. Al Gore was given one.
Monckton is a bit of an oddball I grant you that but he is also very intelligent and right where it matters. If he brings half the energy to UKIP that he brought to the climate debate then UKIP will be lucky to have him
