UKIP: Nigel Farage has left the building

Word in the European parliament is that Farage's injuries, sustained whilst rehearsing for the role of Dick Dastardly, are far worse than originally thought. His spinal injury is of particular concern. Our Nigel has even pulled out of several meetings because he is too ill to attend.

There were worries about his mental state following the crash - an extremely traumatic experience for anybody - and reports that he is waking up in the night shaking and sweating. However, we now learn that he is having recurring nightmares about being unable to travel to Brussels to collect his generous "daily allowances".

What he should be more worried about, however, are the Machiavellian machinations now taking place as MEPs realise that 'Sir' is not there to keep them in order. Two UKIP MEPs were spotted yesterday dining with two former members of the UKIP staff and a senior member of the parliament's administration. Is there a coup in the air?

We will keep you posted.
