UKIP: The odious Paul Nuttall sinks to an all-time low

Many people are concerned about the level of toxins in PVC and the possible impact that they may have on the environment and on our health. For instance, PVC products such as vinyl flooring can release chemical softeners called phthalates. PVC flooring has been associated with increases in respiratory sensitization (asthma). Lead additives in PVC mini-blinds were found to cause lead poisoning in some children. Plumbers have also complained about toxic glues used to fit PVC pipes, while some studies suggest that toxic chemicals can leach out of PVC pipes.

There are also concerns about the disposal of waste PVC. Some electronic scrap components, such as CRTs, contain contaminants such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, mercury, and brominated flame retardants.

So what is UKIP’s policy on PVC? Can we expect a sensible and reasoned statement from them? Fat chance. They dismiss the whole thing as a joke!

From the News of the World:

SEX toys such as the famous Rampant Rabbit could be BANNED by barmy Brussels killjoys.

Green Euro MPs want to outlaw the use of PVC in electrical goods, claiming the plastic is harmful when it ends up at rubbish dumps.

Though the move is aimed at mobile phones and white goods such as dishwashers, it would cover sex toys too.

A European Parliament spokesman said: “Electrical goods end up in landfill sites, often in developing countries, and that is a problem. Sex toys would be included.”

The British Plastics Foundation has warned the move would cost the industry almost £1billion as it scrambled to replace PVC.

UKIP chairman Paul Nuttall said: “Taking PVC out of electrical goods would cost millions... and cost the bedrooms of Britain a lot of fun.”

And News of the World sex columnist Tracey Cox said: “There are going to be a lot of very disappointed women out there.

“They might want to be environmentally friendly and get rid of them but what would women do? They'd certainly eat a lot more Belgian chocolates.”

So the odious Paul Nuttall drags the debate into the gutter by talking about sex toys!

But should we be surprised? The majority of UKIP’s MEPs have never been able to rise above Nuttall’s level.

We note with amusement that one UKIP official has been claiming that Nuttall was ‘led’ into making the statement by the NOTW reporter. A pathetic excuse! UKIP's MEPs were supposed to have undergone media training to prevent them from making fools of themselves.

Nuttall could have easily told the reporter that he was not prepared to discuss the issue unless it was taken seriously by the paper. He could have even declined to be interviewed as the NOTW is not exactly known for serious debate. Instead, he was led into making stupid playground comments.

Another own goal for UKIP. And they still wonder why UKIP is not taken seriously!
