If I were Mr Bannerman and Mr Agnew I would not get too complacent about their slots in the East. Nigel Farage has promised the top slot to Bob Spink if he wants it.
Bob has confirmed his interest. Bob knows he will probably lose his Castle Point seat to the Tories in 2010. He has already admitted that he can’t rely on his personal vote to keep the seat. Although he would much rather be an MP he is willing to give the Euro elections a try. If he campaigns and loses he can stay on as an MP but if he wins he can resign his Westminster seat and enjoy another five years in Brussels. Watch this space.
