'Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive'
So who has been caught telling porkies?
Nigel just can't resist jumping on bandwagons.
Energy Secretary Mr Huhne is accused of getting his wife to take penalty points so that he could avoid a driving ban. And up pops Nigel claiming that he can remember being on a Strasbourg to Stansted flight with Huhne on March 12, 2003. That was the date of the offence in Essex.
So Farage can remember a fellow passenger from a flight 8 years ago? Pull the other one! But Farage was adamant:
"I was on that flight with Chris Huhne."
However, common sense soon prevailed and Farage quickly backtracked after it was pointed out that he could be called on to give evidence in court.
Sky News Political Correspondent Sophy Ridge tweeted:
I'm told Essex Police contacted Nigel Farage over Chris Huhne speeding allegations. Farage told them he couldn't be sure he was on flight.
End of tweet.
So once again Farage is exposed as a man so desperate for attention that he will jump on ANY bandwagon to gain publicity.
Farage, in a desperate attempt to save face, then claimed that it all a 'misunderstanding' and he was, in fact, referring to a different flight!
From his twitter page:
"The only flight I remember in detail happened last May".
So once again Farage is exposed for what he really is - a publicity seeking liar!
And now this from The Sun:
Huhne dunnit?
UKIP boss claims that Lib Dem WAS in Essex
By GRAEME WILSON
Published: 18 May 2011
CHRIS Huhne WAS in Essex the day of the speeding rap threatening his career, UKIP boss Nigel Farage claimed last night.
Mr Farage said he flew into Stansted with him.
Energy Secretary Mr Huhne is accused of getting his wife to take the penalty points so he could avoid a driving ban.
The Lib Dem is now under mounting pressure after claims by UKIP's leader put him in the frame for the rap he's accused of trying to dodge.
MEP Mr Farage said he and Mr Huhne were on the same flight from Strasbourg to Stansted airport on March 12, 2003.
That was the date of the offence in Essex - home to Stansted.
Mr Huhne denies suggestions that he got his estranged wife Vicky Pryce to take his speeding points so he could dodge a ban.
She has an alibi that puts her in London that day until at least 10pm.
Mr Farage said his records confirmed he flew to Stansted on Ryanair on Wednesday March 12.
He insisted: "I was on that flight with Chris Huhne."
Mr Farage said they were both regulars on Wednesday night flights from Strasbourg.
EU records show Mr Huhne signed in at the European Parliament on the Wednesday and took part in votes that day.
But he did not sign in next day - suggesting he flew home on Wednesday night.
A former Lib Dem press officer said he was "99.9 per cent sure" Mr Huhne left on March 12.
Mr Huhne faced jibes in the Commons yesterday.
But when asked if he could still give full attention to his job he replied: "I can indeed."
