UKIP: Dr Edmond on Annabelle Fuller, Del Young, John West and Andrew Bridgen

Now what can I do with Andrew's Blackberry and Commons pass? Any takers?

Readers of this blog will be aware that Dr Edmond was a member of UKIP's NEC. He was thrown off it after he committed the crime of actually wanting to tackle corruption in the party AND listen to the concerns of ordinary members.

Here are his views on Ms Fuller, Del Young, John West, Moroccan taxi drivers and Andrew Bridgen.

From Dr Edmonds blog
:

Annabelle Fuller is a very close friend and long time associate of Nigel Farage. I saw her at the first UKIP NEC meeting I attended when she seemed to be allowed by the chairman to wander in and out of the meeting at will. She has featured previously in the tabloid press baring her victim status for all interested to see and read. The first incident was written up in the Daily Mail, click on link to read it. Despite the menacing nature of these phone calls she claims to have received she never reported them to the police but it did provide a good story for the Mail.

Del Young

The date of this 'story' was very close to the time Del Young a UKIP NEC member received phone calls threatening he would be killed. Del did report these threats to the police who traced these calls to some misguided youths. I often wonder who was guiding these misguided youths? To the best of my knowledge Del's death threats were not published in the media.

John West

The next time Ms Fuller came up at the UKIP NEC was when John West, a long time UKIP activists and potential UKIP MEP candidate for the Eastern region, had his confidential media test interview with Clive Page, UKIP's press officer and nominally Ms Fuller's boss posted on YouTube from a Morocco ISP address with the very damaging title, 'How not to do politics'. The video tape copy of this interview was kept on Ms Fuller's laptop which she subsequently claimed she had left in a London taxi and which was returned to her by the cabbie two days later. Her story relayed to the NEC by chairman Whittaker was the taxi driver may have posted John's interview on YouTube. He presumably flew to Morocco and back to do so and carefully selected John's interview from the hundred or so interviews on the laptop. Some taxi driver!

Del Young, David Abbott and I pressed for a full NEC investigation into how personal confidential material on a potential UKIP candidate ended up on YouTube. Chairman Whittaker said he was not minded to take this matter further. I wonder why not? To this day Ms Fuller continues her association with UKIP and Mr Farage.

Andrew Bridgen MP

Her latest unsettling experience is documented in yesterday's Sunday Mirror and today's DT. Click on
link to read. Note the similarities in these two stories with the much earlier Mail story. Yet again despite the clearly serious nature of these events Ms Fuller has declined to press charges against the Tory MP Andrew Bridgen, married with two children who is named in these articles. He is quoted as below in today's DT.

"Naturally, I remain hurt and angry that such a ludicrous, false and unsubstantiated allegation should have been given the attention it has."

"The allegation was unfair and hurtful not just to myself but to my wife and children, who bore the brunt of huge and unwarranted media intrusion.”

Exactly! I hope Mr Bridgen will be minded to pursue this matter!

Plus these comments....

John Page said...

So she ran out of his flat with his ID. Why would you do that?

I did like the "I'm only 29".

Eric Edmond said...

Taking his Commons pass ID has serious security implications and should be notified to the Commons authorities, Sergeant at Arms or who ever. Taking his Blackberry plus a letter as alleged in the Sunday Mirror looks like prima facie theft. What are the police doing.

Presumably the MP had a lot of confidential phone numbers, addresses and other material on his Blackberry. You can never find a Moroccan taxi driver when you need one these days.

Greg_L-W. said...

Hi,

isn't the theft of a Blackberry an offence?

In fact the theft of a Westminster Pass must surely call for prosecution under The Terrorism Act and that any passing trollop could have stolen it were Annabelle Fullers fanciful story plausible - it does seem Andrew Bridgen's most serious offence was putting at risk the security of The Palace of Westminster!

It does all sound most clearly like a hastily constructed alibi for a theft when caught red handed.

The track record of dishonesty and lies from Ms. Fuller, does little to add to the plausibility of her story.

Many will remeber her loitering in public toilets to spread lies to corrupt a leadership election for Nigel Farage.

The alacrity with which Fuller has used the internet in Morocco in the past - skipped abroad now and flitted from Party to Party forming intimate relations does imply that she may well be a security risk but her obvious ineptitude may fall short of being a full blown terrorist risk.

She is after all only 29 going on 14! it seems. That however makes her no less a liar and corrupt - just childishly incompetent!

Greg_L-W

UKIP: Andrew Bridgen is offered support & Gerald Batten on No to PEPs

Annabelle Fuller as Little Miss Innocent

Andrew Bridgen & Annabelle Fuller

We are extremely pleased to note that the office of Andrew Bridgen has received a large number of calls from UKIPPERS offering him information on Annabelle Fuller. Messages of support have also been sent to him following Fuller's attempt to smear him in the press. It is gratifying to see that so many UKIPPERS regard the continued presence of Fuller in UKIP as unacceptable. Indeed, many wish to see her speedy removal from the party at the earliest opportunity.

Only by removing such filth from UKIP can the party ever hope to be cleaned up.

Why I will be voting No to UKIP joining a European Political Party by Gerald Batten MEP

I have taken a pragmatic approach to this issue and I base my decision to vote No in the internal ballot in September on the available information. In my view there are two main issues to be considered before making a decision.

Firstly, can UKIP MEPs or members join a European Political Party without compromising our withdrawalist principles?

Secondly, if the answer to the first question is ‘yes’, can the money or resources available be used to assist UKIP and our cause of British withdrawal from the EU?

Would joining a European Political Party compromise UKIP’s withdrawalist principles?

The honest answer to that we don’t know.

We don’t know what it is we are being asked to join. We are being asked to sign a blank cheque and give blanket approval for UKIP MEPs and members to join an unknown quantity. What is the Constitution or ‘Statute’ of the party in question? Either we haven’t been told or it doesn’t yet exist.

This ballot question should not even be posed at this time. It should wait until we can be presented with a specific European party constitution or statute that we can consider.

If such a party were for example the ‘European Party of EU Withdrawlists’ specifically dedicated to nation states unilaterally leaving the EU then I might consider joining - but that is not what is on offer.

The only statute that we have is that of the European Alliance for Freedom. The statute of this party is in the public domain and can be found on the internet.

This includes the aim to: “campaign for a non-centralised, transparent, flexible and democratically controlled EU…” This is clearly not a withrawalist party but a reformist one. Do you want to reform the EU or to leave? I was a founder member of UKIP in September 1993 and it was I who proposed the name UK Independence Party.

I am an unconditional withdrawalist and I would not join a reformist party.

Can the money or resources available be used to assist our cause of British withdrawal from the EU? The basis on which European political parties will take part in the European elections in 2014 has not yet been decided by an EU Directive and transposed into national law.

The practicalities of how a list of 25 or so candidates will campaign across the European Union has not been finalised and is causing some practical difficulties for those drafting the legislation.

However one thing we know is that is that the list of candidates will fight under the name of their party, e.g. the ‘European Alliance for Freedom’ - not the UK Independence Party.

The voters will most likely be presented with two ballot papers: one will bear UKIP’s name the other will not, it will bear the name of the European political parties.

This will not directly help UKIP or our withdrawalist cause.

The money available cannot be spent on UKIP. It can only be used on European political parties. The EU’s regulations clearly state the money cannot be spent on:

Campaign costs for referenda and elections (except for European Elections for a European Party).

Direct or indirect funding for national parties, election candidates and political foundations both at national and European level. . Debts and debt service charges

PUT SIMPLY: UKIP CANNOT USE THIS MONEY

European Political Foundations:

Great play is being made of the money that could be used to set up a political foundation as a ‘think tank’ to assist our cause. But once again, who will determine what this think tank produces? A foundation will be affiliated to a European political party.

We have the same problem as in our first question: what will be its platform? Will it produce studies advocating EU withdrawal or just EU reform? We don’t know.

Is this issue similar to the one UKIP faced in the 1990s concerning taking up seats in the European Parliament? No. In 1994, as UKIP’s European Election Organiser, I argued that UKIP should fight on the platform of not taking up our seats in the European Parliament. After some years of careful consideration I changed my view in 2001.

I was able to change that view because taking up our seats did not compromise UKIP’s withdrawalist principles. UKIP fights European elections on our terms – not those of the European Union or foreigners influencing or determining our party constitution or manifesto.

Conclusion:

The Yes campaign website in this ballot have kindly referred to me as follows, “Nobody who has the privilege of working with Gerard would describe him for a second as an ‘integrationist’ or a ‘federalist’. But to his substantial credit, he remains fully and properly engaged with the enemy at the front”

I am grateful for their generosity in acknowledging my efforts. But because I am an uncompromising, unconditional withdrawalist. I will not vote Yes to UKIP members joining a European political party until I know what it is, what it stands for, and that it will campaign for outright withdrawal from the EU.

I intend to vote No in this ballot, and I hope that a majority of my fellow UKIP members will do likewise. When we are presented with a specific statute for a European political party, and a proposal for the work of a Political Foundation we can make an informed decision.

Not until then.

The horse must come before the cart.

UKIP: Bloody nose for Yes Team and Farage at West Midland's PEP Birmingham Debate

Farage’s plans for UKIP to join a PEP pan European party are being dealt severe blows in regional debates across the country where, so far, the reaction has been overwhelmingly a 90% No. We have been told that this was expressed more in the West Midlands than anywhere else - a region devastated by infighting and the de-selection of popular local MEP Nikki Sinclaire.

On Monday, a packed room of 50-60 people heard from both sides. The 'No' campaign was represented by Trevor Colman MEP and Mike Smith. Mick 'Porky Pie' McGough and Michael 'who ate all the pies' Greaves represented the 'Yes' campaign.

The 'NO' side stole the show arguing on principle with passion (notably Mike Smith), that UKIP should stay true to its withdrawalist principles. This was greeted with constant cheering and clapping from the floor.

The 'Yes' argument, as always, centred around money, money and more money!

Unfortunately for Farage and his sycophants this fact wasn’t lost on the audience! McGough and Greaves were clearly out of favour with the audience. Indeed, they only received a polite clap from two or three people after delivering their ten minute pitch. We also note that their replies to questions from the audience were met in silence, in complete contrast to the response to the no side.

Michael Greaves even felt it necessary to claim angrily to a question from a member that they were too naive to understand the issues and that he knew best as he worked in the European Parliament! This drew hisses and shouts from the audience.

Michael then attacked those MEPs that had left the EFD. This resulted in a passionate reply from Mike Smith.

We are pleased to note that this drew the biggest applause of the evening. He stated that Trevor, Nikki and Mike were right to leave the EFD and that they had done so because of their principles. He also expressed anger that they were constantly being attacked in certain quarters for doing what every UKIP MEP should have done - leave the EFD! He then pointed out that they were all actively campaigning for the Euro-realist cause by producing literature, leaflets, websites and petitions.

How sad that Steve Crowther (chair) tried to silence Mike. And this was despite having just allowed criticism from the other side. You really couldn’t make it up!

We suspect the West Midlands might hold the biggest opposition to the EFD than anywhere else!

The yes side continued to lie in suggesting that the party would receive funding from 13 MEPs (as stated in March’s edition of Independence News). This was clearly a deliberate attempt to mislead UKIPPERS as only a maximum of 9 UKIP MEPs would join a PEP.

Let us not forget that Mike, Nikki and Trevor are adamant that they are not going to join a PEP. And have the 'Yes' men forgotten that Bannerman has now left UKIP for the Tories? Quoting figure after figure based on 13 MEPs (promising a third more funding than they would be entitled to) is yet again another example of the level of dishonesty that we have come to expect from the 'Yes' campaign!

We will leave you with some words from Farage - before he went native - which are now being repeated at regional meetings across the country.

‘’We are opposed on principle to the idea of state funding of political parties, either nationally or at a European level. It is not an appropriate use of tax-payers’ money”.

UKIP: Steve Crowther & Nigel's false promises

UKIP - its all about money now.

The latest non-entity to try to get his nose in the trough courtesy of his devotion to Nigel Farage is Steve Crowther. Crowther wants to be paid a salary for his work as Party Secretary. Like so many before him, he is being strung along with false promises.

Crowther faces two problems. Firstly, all money accrues to the leadership. The leader's wife, and Annabelle Fuller might get paid, but we all doubt if Crowther can do what they do. Secondly, rumour has it that Crowther may not be with us for as long as he might hope. He is not popular with the MEPs, and has not really impressed with his performance to date. Farage likes Crowther, but will not support him when calls are made for his removal over the coming summer.

Shit happens, Steve!

UKIP: More Annabelle Fuller & Andrew Bridgen

Annabelle Fuller - Farage's long term mistress - has been busily courting the media in the wake of the allegations she made against Andrew Bridgen.

Ms Fuller has now appeared in three major newspapers and has been mentioned on several Internet sites. The most nauseating was her 'exclusive' interview in The Mirror. How sad that Annabelle still thinks that she can fool people by fluttering her eyelashes and doing the 'butter wouldn't melt in my mouth' routine.

Remember that last time she went to the press with a sob story? She claimed that she had been the victim of a campaign of harassment and had been driven to resign from UKIP by menacing phone calls in the night. See: LINK. The reality was somewhat different. She had actually been sacked - at John Whittaker's insistence - after she posted a video interview of John West - a potential MEP candidate - on Youtube without the candidate's permission. UKIP were later found guilty in court of a 'breach of confidence' after the judge ruled in Mr West's favour. See: LINK

Annabelle Fuller is a fantasist and a liar. That she has serious mental health issues is also quite obvious. We can well remember the time that she was carried out of the EU Parliament on a stretcher after she indulged in acts of self harm. And what of the time she claimed in all seriousness that she had been groped by a ghost in a Cambridgeshire hotel bedroom!

Fuller has told The Mirror that she is 'feeling suicidal, rarely sleeps, and has seen a therapist'. But she was not too 'traumatised' to pose for pictures at Ascot shortly after the alleged assault.

A clearly 'suicidal' Fuller at Ascot

A few points....

Fuller was seen in a drunken state flirting with various men prior to the incident.

Her 'reputation' in Westminster circles is hardly that of a wilting wallflower. The words 'bicycle' and 'ride' spring to mind.

She works as a Westminster lobbyist and had been drinking with Andrew Bridgen for sometime. The pub is used by MPs and civil servants. And yet she claims that she didn't realise that Mr Bridgen was an MP until she spotted his Commons Pass at his flat! Come off it!

Fuller bleats that her "life is destroyed". Excuse us for being less than sympathetic. She states that she doesn't want publicity and leaves the country but then she waves her anonymity and gives an interview to a major Sunday paper!

And the fact that Fuller's friend filmed her making a call from the lobby immediately afterwards in a distressed state - instead of helping her - makes this whole episode look iffy from the start.

And don't forget that the civil servant who was with Fuller and Bridgen denies her version of events.

The only life that has been 'destroyed' is that of Andrew Bridgen. He has seen his reputation dragged in the mud by a woman who is regarded by many as a tart and a trollop.

The whole thing stinks and we urge Andrew Bridgen to take the matter to court.

We also note that Fuller 'removed' items from Mr Bridgen's flat, including his Blackberry and Westminster Pass. As GLW has pointed out:

One is tempted to ask, as a result of her track record of proven dishonesty, if she had indeed stolen the items and was seeking information on which she could capitalise.

Were this the case could the claims and allegations she made be to cover her theft? We read much of the importance to the press in certain less trustworthy areas of information garnered by phone tapping and the like.

In our opinion, Andrew Bridgen should take Fuller to the cleaners - she certainly deserves it - and a good Barrister would most certainly rip her pretensions of demure innocence wide, wide apart! There are many in UKIP and beyond who could tell Mr Bridgen a thing or two about this 'lady'. No wonder Farage is looking worried at the moment.

The Mirror

Fuller. Desperately trying to look traumatised for The Mirror

Woman who claimed MP Andrew Bridgen sexually assaulted her speaks out

The woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by a Tory MP yesterday broke her silence and said: “My life’s been destroyed.”

Annabelle Fuller, 29, spoke out to defend herself over the rumours that have swirled since Andrew Bridgen was arrested over the allegation he groped her on the balcony of his Westminster flat.

Parliamentary aide and former charity worker Annabelle, who has now fled abroad, revealed she never wanted the case against the North-West Leicestershire MP to go ahead. She said she didn’t even phone police, claiming it was a security guard working at the MP’s block of flats who made the call.

The events that led to Mr Bridgen’s arrest unfolded on June 8, when Annabelle and the MP met at a pub near the Houses of Parliament and ended up back at his Westminster flat.

He was arrested the next morning and, after a week-long police investigation, the case was dropped due to lack of evidence. He then threatened to take legal action over Annabelle’s “ludicrous” and “false” allegations. Since then Annabelle has been feeling suicidal, rarely sleeps, and has seen a therapist.

She is a popular socialite on the Westminster scene, widely known by many MPs, researchers and journalists for her tireless campaigning for the Royal British Legion and the Soldiers’ Charity.

However, when she met the Sunday Mirror at a hotel close to her hideaway this week, normally gregarious Annabelle appeared nervous and shaken.

A scar sustained while leaving the flat is still visible on her forehead as she talks – her voice cracking with emotion – about the events of the last few weeks, stopping regularly to draw on a cigarette.

“I’ve been painted as a fantasist, which is so unfair,” she said. “I never wanted things to get this far. I told the police I didn’t want to take any action. I just want this nightmare to end.”

Waiving her right to anonymity, she frankly admitted she had been drinking that afternoon, that her behaviour could have been seen as flirtatious and that she was “naïve” to return to the MP’s flat.

University-educated Annabelle, who now works as an assistant to UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage, readily admits she enjoys the social scene of Westminster, where much of the day-to-day business revolves around pubs and bars.

She said the day of June 8 started like many others in the world of Westminster lobbying. She met a work contact for lunch at the Guinea Grill pub, off London’s Berkeley Square, then spent most of the afternoon socialising with friends.

She later arranged to meet a friend at the Marquis of Granby, a pub close to Westminster which is popular with MPs.

As the evening drew to a close, she went outside to see if anybody had a spare cigarette, and bumped into Mr Bridgen.

She didn’t know who he was. But the pair were soon joined by Edward Green, a civil servant Annabelle recognised.

Recalling their meeting, Annabelle said: “He (Mr Bridgen) never introduced himself as an MP so I just thought he was a regular guy. I explained how I worked in politics and had an interest in the military and working with charities who support our troops.

“He said he was an ex-Marine and I mentioned a Freedom of Information request I’d obtained uncovering the fact charities were paying for the limbs of amputee soldiers. Mr Bridgen said, ‘That is not right’ – and listened to what I had to say.”

The discussion continued until closing time, then Mr Bridgen, a married father of two, suggested they all return to his flat close to the Houses of Parliament.

Annabelle, 29, said: “He said, ‘We can have a cigarette and carry on talking.’ I said, ‘Yes, but I will be going home as I have an ill cat.’ In my mind it was a quick fag and then off home.”

Annabelle says the trio took a taxi to a nearby petrol station to buy cigarettes and arrived at his apartment after midnight.

“When we got there I was confused about where I was,” Annabelle said. “I felt uncomfortable. Something inside my head said I shouldn’t be here. I thought about just walking out. Mr Bridgen offered me a drink but I said, ‘No, I’m not drinking any more.’” Annabelle claims she then sent a text to friends and tried to call her parents to relay how she was feeling.

After a friend replied advising she find out where she was, Annabelle says she spotted a letter on the table with Mr Bridgen’s name on it – which she claims was the first point she realised he was an MP.

Annabelle said he then invited her to join him and Mr Green on the balcony. She says they had to walk through his bedroom to get there and says Mr Bridgen, 46, pointed at the bed saying how “big and comfy” it was. “I thought, ‘I don’t like this situation,’” she said.

It was at this point, around 1.30am on June 9, that their accounts of what happened diverge. Annabelle claims he reached up her skirt and touched her on the bottom and leg. But Mr Bridgen says there was no inappropriate contact and the police have decided there is no evidence to support the claims, which is why the case has been dropped.

After they went on to the balcony, Annabelle said she needed the toilet and dashed back into the lounge, grabbing Mr Bridgen’s Westminster pass, his Blackberry phone and a letter with his address on it to prove where she had been. She claims she then fled bare-foot. As she dashed downstairs she ran into a wall on the stairwell, gashing her head and cutting her lip.

A security guard asked if she wanted him to call the police and she replied: “I just want to get the hell out of here.”

Unbeknown to Annabelle, she says the security guard had dialled 999 and two police officers arrived.

Annabelle said: “I told the police officers I was scared and I ran. I said to them I just wanted to go home.”

Instead Annabelle was taken to London’s Charing Cross police station where she was asked to give a statement.

“They took a DNA sample, urine sample and then a female officer came in to take my clothes.

“I had no idea what was going on and what had been set in motion.”

Later on June 9, Annabelle says she was called by an officer at a specialist unit at the Met saying she needed to give a fuller statement. She says she told police she did not want to take the matter further. She also signed a form saying she didn’t want to give evidence in court. “I told the police, ‘I just want this all to go away,” she said. “But the police told me, ‘Unfortunately that can’t happen – Mr Bridgen has been arrested.’”

In the aftermath of his arrest Annabelle says the police told her to take time to decide what to do.

She says she has spent hours poring over the incident in her mind, sometimes blaming herself. “I regretted being naïve enough to go back to the flat,” she admitted.

The case was dropped on June 16 following a fuller statement which Annabelle gave to police. In it she conceded her behaviour could have been construed as flirting and that she would withdraw her allegation.

Annabelle hoped that would be the end of the matter.

But within hours, Mr Bridgen appeared on TV news channels having released a statement saying he would be taking legal advice about possible action “against those responsible for making and publicising these falsehoods”.

Annabelle says this “vicious” response has turned her world upside down.

“I read his comments savaging me and was shaking with anger. It was so vicious. I don’t believe his behaviour is appropriate for a man in his position.”

To make matters worse, text messages from Adrian Yalland, who works for London-based PR firm Chelgate, started to arrive on Annabelle’s mobile.

The first at 10.15pm on June 16 said: “This is Adrian Yalland from Chelgate. I wondered if you would like to meet for a discussion.”

After replying “no” Mr Yalland responded, “Do you know who I am” and, “Do you know who I represent?”

A spokesman for Chelgate confirmed they represented Mr Bridgen, and last night Adrian Yalland told the Sunday Mirror: “Yes, I did try to arrange a meeting. But the reason why is none of your business.” He said Annabelle later contacted him.

Annabelle said: “I couldn’t believe I received those text messages so soon after the case had been dropped.”

Everyone at Westminster knew who she was and she felt too traumatised to return to work. She said Mr Bridgen’s response has made it impossible for her to go back. She said the furore surrounding the incident has turned her into a “gibbering wreck” and left her suicidal.

“In the days after, I had to see my doctor and a therapist,” she said. “I couldn’t walk down the street without holding my parents’ hands. I am a 29-year-old for goodness sake.”

Annabelle added: “The whole episode has been upsetting, but Mr Bridgen’s actions since the night have just added to my pain and distress.”

Last night Mr Bridgen told the Sunday Mirror he continued to strenuously deny the allegation of sexual assault.

He insisted he was never alone with Ms Fuller in his apartment. He admitted pointing to his bed but said it was only to point out his Union Jack bedspread.

He said: “I repeat what I have said all along – I did nothing wrong. This has been a trial by accusation. I just want to put this whole episode behind me.”

Woman who accused Tory MP of sexual assault claims her life has been "destroyed"

The woman who accused Conservative MP Andrew Bridgen of sexual assault yesterday waived her right to anonymity to declare that the incident had “destroyed her life”.

Annabelle Fuller, 29, insisted that she had never wanted to press charges and that it was a security guard at Mr Bridgen’s Westminster block of flats who had called the police as she tried to flee.

But although the case was eventually dropped, it was the MP’s “vicious” response, in which he vowed to take legal action against those responsible for “making and publicising these falsehoods”, that had left her suicidal, she claimed.

Mr Bridgen, 46, who represents North West Leicestershire, was arrested in the early hours of June 9. He had met Miss Fuller in a pub near the Houses of Parliament the previous evening and the pair got chatting about her work as a campaigner for the Royal British Legion and the Soldiers' Charity, she said.

They were later joined by Edward Green, a civil servant, and when the pub closed, Mr Bridgen, a married father-of-two, invited them both back to his flat.

Miss Fuller said that she began to feel confused and uncomfortable as she had no idea where she was. She claimed that she did not realise he an MP until she saw a letter on the table.

She said that Mr Bridgen invited her to join him on the balcony but to get there, she had to walk through his bedroom.

As she did so, the MP pointed out how "big and comfy" his bed was, she alleged. She said that he then reached up her skirt and touched her bottom and her leg.

Miss Fuller made an excuse and then dashed from the flat bare foot, grabbing the MP’s Westminster pass, his BlackBerry and a letter to prove where she had been, she told a Sunday newspaper.

She said that unbeknown to her, the security guard called 999 and that when the officers arrived she was told she had to give a statement at a police station.

"I told the police, 'I just want this all to go away," she said. "But the police told me, 'Unfortunately that can't happen, Mr Bridgen has been arrested.'"

The case was dropped on June 16 after Miss Fuller conceded that her behaviour could have been construed as flirting and withdrew her allegation.

Mr Bridgen strenuously denied the claims, which he said were “without foundation, demonstrably and provably false” and insisted that he had never been alone in his flat with Miss Fuller, who now works for UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage.

He said in a statement: "Naturally, I remain hurt and angry that such a ludicrous, false and unsubstantiated allegation should have been given the attention it has.

"The allegation was unfair and hurtful not just to myself but to my wife and children, who bore the brunt of huge and unwarranted media intrusion.”

UKIP: Farage's failed Tories

In 2004, after UKIP's spectacular election result, the sharks began to circle. Failed Tories, Tim 'Nice But Dim' stereotypes, and characters from PG Woodehouse novels began hammering on the door, and what trouble they have caused.

Gawain Towler, who came from a Tory MEP's office (via The Sprout Magazine) famously declared at his first interview that his ambition was to be a Tory MP. Towler is an effective operator, but it is Farage he promotes, not UKIP. Farage famously rescued him after a serious scandal led to demands for his deselection in 2009.

His main rival for a job was Dr Lee Rotherham, a committed conservative. Unfortunately for him, he had something of a political profile himself, and was therefore considered a potential rival to the great Messiah.

Next up, fresh from the Young Conservatives, one Annabelle Fuller. Need we say more?

Annabelle brought with her another Tory - the Hon. Stephen Sobey-Neville. He turned out to be another Walter Mitty character who lied about his title and his name. He left with his tail between his legs. He ended up working for Athena PR. And who runs Athena? A certain Ms Fuller!

Then came an ex-Tory Councillor named, apparently, David Campbell-Bannerman. That went well, didn't it! What is it with these people and their affectations towards double-barrelled names they don't actually have?

And let us not forget Lord Pearson, an ex-Tory who as UKIP party leader actually urged voters to support the Tory party.

But why does Farage insist on surrounding himself with these failed Tories? Because he is one himself, of course. Farage only really understands conservatism, he has no awareness at all of other political approaches. His instinct also tells him that the best chance he has of achieving his great dream - a seat in the House of Lords - is to stay close to a certain faction of the Tory party and to bide his time. This is why he backed David Davis in the Tory leadership campaign.

In 2005, the Electoral Commission let it be known that UKIP was in line for a peership, due to the high number of MEPs it had. It was hinted that Roger Knapman, with a long political career behind him, and soon to be an outgoing party leader, would be the ideal candidate. The Messiah would not have this.

And so it was leaked that Knapman was employing Polish builders, and it was suggested that this might go against party policy in some way. This was the first shot in a whispering campaign against the man who had led UKIP to success.

As he slithers from bar to bar, doing his impersonation of Gonville Bromhead - as portrayed in the film 'Zulu' by Michael Caine - he seemingly dreams of becoming Lord Bromley, or whatever. Sadly his friends have seen to it by their behaviour that he is tainted, and is a figure of ridicule in serious political circles. I say, dear boy. You lost the plot

UKIP: Annabelle Fuller admits that she was the woman who made the sexual assault allegation against Andrew Bridgen MP

Annabelle Fuller claims to have been reduced to a 'gibbering wreck' after her encounter with the Tory MP. However, her recent appearance at Ascot would suggest otherwise.

So Ms Fuller has finally admitted that she was the women who claimed to have been groped by the Tory MP. It comes as no surprise that the police decided not to proceed with the case after it emerged that Fuller had been seen prior to the alleged assault drunkenly flirting with men.

We can confirm that Fuller's 'reputation' in Westminster leaves a lot to be desired. The word 'bicycle' comes to mind.

We can only wonder just how much longer UKIPPERS will continue to tolerate her presence as a paid employee of the Party.

Mr Bridgen is now threatening legal action against her. So will Farage agree to pay her legal costs? And will he use UKIP funds?

Remember what Bannerman said:

Nigel's taste for pursuing personal vendettas on the party’s credit account, has led to a legal bill running at £140,000 a year. See: LINK

From The Mail:

A Parliamentary aide who claimed a Tory MP sexually assaulted her has revealed she never wanted the case against him to go ahead.

Annabelle Fuller, 29, told how her life has been 'destroyed' since 46-year-old Andrew Bridgen was arrested over the allegation.

She said: 'I have been painted a fantasist which is so unfair. I never wanted things to get this far.

'I told the police I didn't want to take any action. I just want this nightmare to end.'

After a week-long police investigation, the case against Mr Bridgen, MP for North West Leicestershire, was dropped due to lack of evidence.

Ms Fuller had alleged that the married father-of-two groped her on the balcony of his Westminster flat in the early hours after meeting her in a West End pub.

He has now threatened legal action over the allegations by the popular Westminster lobbyist which he described as 'ludicrous' and 'false'.

She has fled abroad to escape the blaze of publicity, but waived her right to anonymity to tell how she has had counselling over the case and what she claims happened that night.

Ms Fuller, who works as an assistant to UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage, admitted she had been socialising in the afternoon with friends after a lunch when she met Mr Bridgen on June 8.

The started chatting about her interest in the military and campaigning for charities as she had a cigarette outside the Marquis of Granby, a pub near Westminster.

She told the Sunday Mirror: 'He never introduced himself as an MP so I just thought he was a regular guy. He said he was an ex-Marine.

'I explained how I worked in politics and mentioned a Freedom of Information request I'd obtained uncovering the fact that charities were paying for the limbs of amputee soldiers.

'Mr Bridgen said, "That's not right, and listened to what I had to say.'

They were joined by civil servant Edward Green whom she knew and as the pub closed Mr Bridgen suggested they return to his flat close to the Commons.

They took a taxi there arriving after midnight, but she said she immediately 'felt uncomfortable'.

Ms Fuller was 'confused' about where she was and sent texts to friends and tried to call her parents to tell them of her concerns.

Then, she said, Mr Bridgen invited her and Mr Green to join him on the balcony, but to get there she had to walk through his bedroom.

Ms Fuller claims Mr Bridgen pointed at the bed saying it was 'big and comfy.' Then, she alleges, he put his hand up her skirt and touched her on the bottom and leg.

Mr Bridgen emphatically denies there was any inappropriate contact and police investigations have found no evidence to support the allegation.

Moments after the alleged incident, Ms Fuller fled the apartment bare-foot - picking up Mr Bridgen's Westminster pass, his Blackberry phone and a letter with his address to prove where she had been.

As she went down the stairs, she accidentally gashed her head. A security guard asked if she wanted any help and then unknown to her called police.

She was taken to Charing Cross police station where she was asked to give a statement, then provided a urine and DNA sample, before a woman police officer took away her clothes.

Mr Bridgen, who was elected last year, was arrested at 2am. He was held for several hours and forced to provide a DNA sample, pose for a police mugshot and be fingerprinted before being released on bail.

The case was dropped after she gave a fuller statement when she accepted her behaviour might have been misconstrued as flirting and she would withdraw the allegation.

Ms Fuller has felt too upset to return to work and says she has been turned into a 'gibbering wreck' by the controversy.

She told the paper: 'I couldn't walk down the street without holding my parents' hands. I am a 29-year-old for goodness sake.'

Mr Bridgen said he was never alone with Ms Fuller. He agreed he had pointed at his bed, but only to show her his Union Jack bedspread.

He said: 'I did nothing wrong. This has been trial by accusation. I just want to put this whole episode behind me.'

UKIP: Andrew Bridgen MP

Annabelle Fuller at Ascot. Certain females have a nerve wearing white!

We understand that Annabelle Fuller, UKIP employee, personal 'friend' and 'assistant' to Farage, might possibly be able to assist in revealing the identity of the woman that is alleged to have attempted to set up Andrew Bridgen MP.

We can only agree with the following comment:

If the case has been dropped due to false allegations, then the 'lady' in question should be charged accordingly and jailed if found guilty. His reputation has been destroyed and his career and marriage put in jeopardy - yet she still remains anonymous and walks away unpunished. A disgrace.

And we are sure that Nigel Farage would agree.

From The Mail

Police drop sex assault case against Tory MP after just a week

A Tory MP spoke of his ‘hurt and anger’ yesterday after police dropped a sex-assault case against him after only one week.

Backbencher Andrew Bridgen, 46, was detained in the early hours of last Thursday after a former political aide claimed he groped her at his Westminster flat.

Amid a blaze of publicity, he was held by police for several hours and forced to provide a DNA sample, pose for a police mugshot and be fingerprinted before being released on bail to return in mid-July.

He vigorously denied any wrong-doing and vowed to clear his name.

Yesterday, after taking a statement from his accuser, detectives ruled there was insufficient evidence to continue investigating.

Mr Bridgen, the MP for North West Leicestershire, said he would now be taking legal advice about possible action over the case.

The saga is likely to trigger a new debate on whether suspects accused of sex offences should be allowed to keep their anonymity until convicted.

TV presenter John Leslie have all been severely embarrassed by sex allegations which came to nothing.

Last Saturday the Mail reported that Mr Bridgen’s accuser had been drunkenly flirting with men in a nearby pub hours before her encounter with the MP, and that police were likely to drop the case within days.

We also disclosed that a civil servant who was in Mr Bridgen’s flat at the time of the alleged incident supported his version of events.

The accuser, a larger-than life character in Westminster, cannot be named for legal reasons but appears to have put her alleged ordeal behind her very quickly.

Earlier this week, she posted a picture of herself happily preparing to go to Royal Ascot on a social networking website.

Married father-of-two Mr Bridgen welcomed the police decision to drop the case.

‘Naturally, I remain hurt and angry that such a ludicrous, false and unsubstantiated allegation should have been given the attention it has,’ he said.

'The allegation was unfair and hurtful not just to myself but to my wife and children.’

Miss Fuller has worked the 'Westminster bubble' for many years and would clearly be aware of the 'lady' involved. We trust that she will contact the police with any information that may help the police indentify the individual in question.

UKIP: Kevin Mahoney ex-political advisor to John Bufton 2009-2011 speaks out....

Given that apparently a report examining and damning just 167 expense claims from 2004 is now about to be released.

Isn't it about time that the scandal of our own UKIP MEPs hiding their expense claims with that 'Insult to the intelligence' expense template that they concocted and publish on the MEP's website is scrapped and replaced with a full and frank display of every penny that they claim?

Apart from the very obvious fact that they should have openly declared every penny claimed since first being elected the only rational conclusion to be reached from the insult that is their current partially obscured expense claim pages is that our MEPs en-bloc are trying to hide the scale of their claims.

Lets at last try and display a touch of honesty and transparency from those who appear to have taken the cash but are not so keen to openly display how much!

To be honest I feel that each and every UKIP MEP who agreed to adopt the travesty of the current expense declaration template in use at present should hang their heads in shame and not be allowed to stand again on a UKIP ticket in my opinion!

UKIP: Annabelle Fuller facing hard times, Nikki Sinclaire in The Mirror & More!

Poor Annabelle!

We sincerely hope that Annabelle's recent 'problems' are not worrying her. But what has Nigel to say about her latest escapade?

Farage has had to resort to wheeling out the likes of Stuart Agnew and Wolfman McGough to argue the case for a pan-European party. No wonder that the whole 'Yes' campaign has largely been discredited!

Agnew was caught on video boasting how he was committing fraud. See: LINK.

And McGough was caught out lying in an election statement to UKIPPERS. He also applauded the fact that GLW's cancer had returned. See: LINK.

Agnew and the Wolfman feature in a video where they both fail miserably to convince UKIPPERS that joining a pan-European would benefit the party.

The video has generated complaints from the 'No' campaign:

As the returning officer for the internal consultation process I can confirm I have received a complaint about this video. I have therefore sent the following e-mail

Stuart,

I have received a complaint regarding the video.

Specifically the complaint refers to the claim by Mick McGough that he "has in his hand a cheque for £300,000 payable to UKIP"

The No campaign claim the money CANNOT be paid to UKIP.

Can you please confirm that the claim that the money can be paid from a PEP direct to UKIP is accurate.

Europe braced for MEPs' expenses storm

Publication of suppressed report could undermine efforts to deal with eurozone debt crisis

Members of the European Parliament. MEPs' expenses are the subject of a report expected to be published soon

The European Parliament will today back down and order the release of a secret report detailing the widespread abuse of expenses by MEPs, The Independent has learnt.

A meeting of senior MEPs is expected to accept a European Court of Justice ruling that there is an "overriding public interest in disclosure".

The decision could have far-reaching consequences for transparency within the European Parliament and wider European Union institutions. It will increase pressure on the parliament to publish more details of the expenses claims of MEPs including their travel expenditure, attendance records and the highly controversial €4,300 (£3,800) "go anywhere" budget given to members.

Given the difficulties the EU faces in persuading countries such as Greece, Ireland and Portugal to accept tough austerity measures, the re-emergence of allegations of misuse of taxpayer funds by MEPs is unlikely to be welcome on the streets of Athens or across the Union. It also means future reports – however controversial – into governance of EU institutions are likely to be put into the public domain.

"Bit by bit the parliament is being brought kicking and screaming towards transparency," said Chris Davies MEP, who first leaked the contents of the report compiled by the parliament's chief internal auditor, Robert Galvin, in 2008. "I was delighted by the European Court's decision.

There is still a long way to go but I would hope pressure will now build to identify what was done to pursue those MEPs identified by Galvin as misusing the system."
The court ruled earlier this month that European institutions could no longer claim potential political controversy as grounds to refuse access of internal audit reports.

A leaked copy of the report to The Sunday Times revealed systematic abuses by Euro MPs of parliamentary allowances that enable them to pocket more than £1m from a five-year term.

Among the abuses it detailed were:

* Payments made to assistants of MEPs who were not accredited.

* End-of-year bonuses worth nearly 20 times the monthly salary paid to assistants, which allowed members to use up their full annual allowance.

* Some assistants doubled their salaries by banking pay-offs from outgoing MEPs at the same time as receiving salaries from incoming ones.

But despite widespread outrage at the allegations senior officials in the European Parliament refused to release the full report and fought a costly court battle with Ciaran Toland, an Irish lawyer, over its disclosure.

The parliament had argued that if such reports were released to the public then in future those writing them might not be prepared to offer frank advice and could adversely affect decision-making. However, this was rejected by the court.

Last night Mr Toland said: "I would very much welcome this development. When they refused me access to the report, the European Parliament effectively said that the taxpayers of Europe, who fund the parliament, cannot be trusted to know how their money is being spent by that parliament, nor are they entitled to know what recommendations exist for how the system should be reformed.

"What is at the heart of the case are central issues of European transparency law. This case has now established new rights of access to a wide range of documents by both citizens and the media. On a wider point, involving the public in any debate on legislative reform, or in respect of public funds, is an essential prerequisite of a democratic system. No self-respecting parliament should ever be afraid to discuss its finances in front of the citizens who elect it, and who pay for those very funds."

Those who argued against the publication will be anxious it should not inflame the situation in Greece. Anger there is so far directed at the Commission and other nation member states, but that could spread.

Sources in the European Parliament said last night that the Galvin report would be discussed today at a meeting of the Bureau of the Parliament which is responsible for matters relating to the budget, administration, organisation and staff. It is composed of the President, Jerzy Buzek, along with all 14 vice-presidents.

The release of the Galvin report is being backed by Diana Wallis, the vice-president responsible for transparency and is expected to be passed.

"The plan is to release the report and not question the wider element of the European Court's decision either," said the source.

The move was welcomed by the Ukip MEP Nikki Sinclaire, who has campaigned for greater transparency within European institutions.

Selected revelations from the Galvin Report

* Documentation was not provided for 63 of the 105 contracts examined.

* A series of bonuses awarded MEPs' assistants between three and 19.5 times their normal salary.

* A payment was made to a crèche, supposedly for secretarial work, whose manager was a local politician from the MEP's party.

* Payments were made to national political parties.

* One MEP paid the full £182,000 staff allowance to one person, suspected of being a relative.

* The report was based on a sample of 167 payments — out of a total of 4,686 — made during October 2004.

And finally......

Instead of attending to the issues being voted upon, Farage slipped out of the voting chamber in Brussels this afternoon to enjoy a cigarette in the Parliamentary smoking chamber - you were seen 'Spivboy'!!!

[BTW there was an inordinate number of votes being held in the chamber at the time Farage departed to indulge his personal habit.]

Clearly, Nigel 'Spivboy' Farage places his personal pleasures before those of his constituents and party activists. Likewise he also rates his cigarettes as more important that voting to defend his country's interests.

With Spivboy it's Me, Me Me, first second and last!!!

The extent of the contempt Farage holds for his duties is remarkable - don't you agree, Nigel???

UKIP: Who is Michael Greaves?

There have been doubts expressed about Michael 'who ate all the pies' Greaves, EFD staff member and UKIP General Secretary. Supposedly a barrister, Greaves was appointed without any consultation with MEPs whatsoever, into a high-salary job with Farage's delegation in Brussels.

His legal abilities were called into question when he made a total balls-up of the party's defence against a case brought by Nikki Sinclaire, resulting in judgement being made against UKIP, Nigel Farage, and Godfrey Bloom.

Now more questions are being asked, this time about Greaves' qualifications. There is no record anywhere of a barrister in the UK by his name.

Greaves claims to have practiced in the International Court. That might explain the situation, or so we thought. A quick call to a contact in the Hague did not help. Our contact could find no record of Greaves having practised there.

Greaves photograph does not appear on the party website alongside other members of the NEC, all of the other members are pictured.

Yes indeed, questions should surely be asked.

UKIP: Annabelle Fuller in a pickle!

To be quite frank, very few people believed Annabelle Fuller, when in September 2008 she claimed to have been the victim of malicious telephone calls late at night from UKIP members. This, she claimed, was her reason for resigning from her job with UKIP.

She failed, of course, to mention that she was sacked for releasing a video of an interview with a potential candidate on the internet.

To be quite frank once more, very few people believed Annabelle Fuller when she concocted a strange story about her laptop being stolen by a Morroccan taxi driver, who then posted the video in question on the internet.

What disgusted many UKIP members was the way in which Nigel Farage supported his alleged dominatrix in the press over all these dubious tales.

Despite bowing to pressure and sacking Fuller, Farage then quietly put her back on the payroll, knowing that no MEP or NEC member would have the guts to stand up to him. She remains on his parliamentary payroll to this day.

Now it appears that Ms. Fuller may be in a pickle. Today, a certain tabloid will be making a decision, based on legal advice, about the possible publication of a story. Once again, Farage's appalling judgement, based on his own desires and interests, looks set to drag the UKIP name through the mud.

UKIP Hypocrite! Farage pleads for leniency to the EU's Legal Affairs Committee

I promise to be good. I really do!

Yesterday afternoon, Nigel Farage appeared before the European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee. He is trying to defend his parliamentary immunity, in order to overturn the disciplinary action taken against him by the President of the parliament following his abusive outburst against Herman van Rompuy.

It did not go well for him as the Committee decided that they wanted nothing to do with this shabby attempt. The matter has been referred upwards, where it is unlikely to be well received.

Farage claims - or at least he used to claim - that he does not recognise the legitimacy of the European Parliament. How times have changed. Like the playground runt, running to hide behind Nanny, he cuts a sorry figure as he pleads for leniency from the very institution he was so pleased to denigrate.

UKIP: Lega Nord & a bit of advice for Stuart Agnew

It was always destined to end in tears....

The racist and homophobic Lega Nord, which sits as a part of Farage's EFD group in the European Parliament, looks to be on its way out of government. The party is making unreasonable demands on Premier Berlusconi, calling for tax breaks, an end to Italian involvement in Libya, and the relocation of four ministries to the north of Italy. Berlusconi is growing impatient with his coalition partners, and especially with the sickly and socially awkward Umberto Bossi. Bossi is trying to play down the possibility of a split, but Belusconi is refusing to give in to Lega Nord's demands, and his offices are now actively briefing against his partners, suggesting that some movement is likely in the short term.

There are two potential and undesirable outcomes to the break-up of the coalition. Fistly, this could allow the leftists into power. Secondly, the Lega Nord will shift its power base back to the European Parliament, and will likely seek greater control over the EFD group.

The EU's regionalisation plans - as supported by UKIP's Micheal Heaver - are perfect for the federalist Lega Nord, which seeks a break-up of the Italian state, and independence for what they call Padania, which is the grubby industrialised part of northern Italy.

Stuart Agnew is known to read Junius, and so for his benefit, here is a link to an explanation of what federalism involves... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federalism

Regionalisation and federalism are both anathema to UKIP. (For Stuart Agnew's benefit, here is a link explaining the meaning of the word anathema (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/anathema )

And so, if we are to believe Farage's justification for sitting with convicted racists and extremists - UKIP gets more money that way - then by extension, UKIP is helping Lega Nord to get more money to further their own political aims.

Stuart Agnew knows what money is, of course. It's what he wants the EU to give to farmers like him under the Common Agricultural Policy, although it is interesting to note that embarrassing calls or more subsidies to farmers like him (but not for organic farmers because he isn't one of them) have been removed from his website.

UKIP: Timo Soini

In April 2009, all the leaders of Finland's political parties signed a declaration condemning racism. Only Soini refused to sign. Yet Farage still says that he's a close friend!

http://nemoo.wordpress.com/2009/04/16/timo-soinis-copout-against-racism/

Don't forget that UKIP claims to be opposed to racism:

"The UK Independence Party takes this opportunity to affirm that it is opposed to discrimination on all grounds as prescribed by law and otherwise. The Party acknowledges the principles of non-discrimination, non-racism and non-sectarianism in its Constitution, and holds those principles dear as a libertarian party".

Yet here we have UKIP - on the official website - promoting the leader of a party riddled with anti-Semitism and racism.

More hypocrisy!

When will UKIPPERS wake up to the truth about the sort of person they have in charge of their Party?

And let's not forget that Timo Soini's party is not, by any stretch of the imagination, the most obnoxious of Farage's European allies. Check out for yourself the composition of the EFD. No wonder Nikki Sinclaire, Mike Nattrass and Trevor Colman left!

UKIP: Michael Heaver

Michael Heaver: Another useful idiot

Every so often, the Farage Jugend movement is relaunched with a new chairman, which brings us to one Micheal Heaver, a London-based student.

Heaver maintains his own blog - something that the not yet quite fully educated should avoid doing, as this can come back to haunt them when they grow up. Heaver uses his blog to espouse his federalist sentiments, coming out in support of the EU's regionalisation policy. "Lets radically cut the number of British MPs in Westminster and have fully federal system..."

Heaver's call for the number of Westminster MPs to be cut echoes his Fuhrer's own wishes: In February 2008, Farage also called for a radical cut in the number of MPs, "because more laws were being made in Europe."

In tandem with this cut in the numbers of UK parliamentarians, Farage also supports the move towards a pan-European political party. The engagement in Euro elections of these PEPs will lead to the creation of 25 new 'super constituencies', to be fought over exclusively by the PEPs, and here we get to the real reason for Farage's enthusiasm. Under the party list system, anybody heading a PEP list would be virtually guaranteed a seat in the European Parliament. That is why Farage is so keen - he wants a job for life in Brussels. Farage sees the writing on the wall for UKIP, and he wants a safe berth.

Unsurprisingly, Heaver also supports the idea of UKIP joining a PEP, but as his blog illustrates, he doesn't really know why. Unfortunately for UKIP's budding young Baldur von Schirach, the fuhrer finds him irritating, so what UKIP does or does not do might turn out to be purely academic for him personally.

We should also mention that Heaver's blog recently published a statement from Tim Congdon in which the professor expressed his support for Farage following Marta Andreasen's call for the UKIP leader to step down. It was quickly removed after allegations were made that it been cobbled together from two separate emails (one of which dated from the time of Farage's re-election as leader and therefore had nothing to do with Andreasen's demand that Farage should go). Heaver was accused of having done this in order to deliberately mislead UKIPPERS..

UKIP: Derek Clark, Nikki Sinclaire & David Bannerman

In today's 'Boston Target' Derek Clark claims the European Union's Common Fisheries Policy encourages the discarding of fish and is robbing fishermen of responsibility for looking after their own waters.

http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk/MEP-backs-protest-Fish-Fight-Campaign/story-12771772-detail/story.html

The report goes on to say, 'And he has thrown his weight behind the Fish Fight Campaign led by television presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall which aims to have the policy scrapped.'

Well Derek certainly has plenty of weight to throw around, but precious little interest in anything relating to Fishing!

Consider:

In the period Feb 24th 2010 - Jan 31th 2011 Derek Clark submitted 4 written questions - not one of them on problems pertaining to Fishing!

Derek Clark did partake in one debate on EU fishing policy - on Feb 8th 2010, but was elsewhere for the final vote!

Nikki Sinclaire in The Yorkshire Post

Nikki Sinclaire: Democracy demands we vote on freedom from the EU

Published on Wednesday 15 June 2011 01:00

I WAS six years old in 1975 when the UK had a referendum on the then Common Market. I don’t remember it myself, but I have since studied the arguments. The government at the time told us it was just a trading agreement, and there would be no loss of sovereignty. The electorate were deceived; we all know what has followed.

Despite numerous promises, no one under the age of 54 has ever had a say on Britain’s relationship with the EU. This is an issue that needs to be resolved, and this is why I’m proud to be involved with the Campaign for a Referendum on our continued membership of the EU.

The EU affects every aspect of our lives: health foods, organ pipe making, steam railway preservation trusts, motorcycling – this list is ever growing. They are now making 75 per cent of our laws. On December 1, 2009, the Lisbon treaty came into force and with it came more powers for the European Parliament. The UK, however, has lost a significant amount of sovereignty as a result of ratification – without the promised referendum – of this treaty.

David Cameron gave us a “cast iron promise” on a referendum which he then jettisoned without a second thought. The Lib Dems also promised a referendum on membership of the EU, but when they joined the coalition, they conveniently dropped the promise.

It is now up to the British people to make their voices heard. People’s petitions have been promised both by the new government and the EU.

A recent YouGov poll shows that 47 per cent of the British people would choose to leave the European Union in such a vote. We often hear the argument that our financial problems would worsen if we were to leave, however this is farcical.

Only 48 per cent of our exports of goods and services go to EU countries (which include our global exports via Rotterdam), which incidentally represents only 10 per cent of our total economy.

We would not be “isolated” if we left the EU, since more than three-quarters of Britain’s overseas assets are in countries outside the EU and roughly 60 per cent of our total external trade (goods, services, and investment income) goes to countries outside the EU.

The EU would not be allowed to raise tariff barriers against us under WTO rules. Leaving the EU would free us from bureaucratic red tape, saving our economy an estimated £50bn a year.

If successful nations like Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Norway, Switzerland and Singapore can flourish without abandoning their national sovereignty, then surely so can we. We did not vote for this loss of sovereignty, we did not give our permission for the EU to create 75 per cent of our laws, nor did we agree to the £48m a day that membership costs us.

I am often asked “if the British people did say they wanted to leave the EU in referendum, would this actually be possible?”

My answer to this is simply – “Yes!” It would give the government authority to repeal of the 1972 European Communities Act. We can leave the EU, because no UK government can bind its successor.

We are subject to EU rules only because UK legislation says that we are. Statutes are passed through Parliament to implement each EU treaty. These statutes require UK judges to have regard to EU law in making their judgments. Repeal this UK legislation and we are free. EU Law would no longer apply to us.

The debate with the EU would be about how best to manage our leaving, not whether we can leave. We don’t have to pay anything to leave; in fact we will stop paying into the EU budget, saving us more money every year.

It is essential to the future of our country that we must work together. This issue is far more important than party politics and personality differences. We have complained about the EU for long enough. We must now all act in unison and co-operation to regain control over our destiny.

This is a cross-party, nationwide initiative which aims to let all citizens of this great nation have their voice. It doesn’t matter whether you are pro or anti-European Union – surely we should be given a voice and a choice either way to decide on our future relationship with the European Union. After all, we are tol d that we live in a democracy.

Nikki Sinclaire is a Ukip MEP for the West Midlands who heads the Campaign for a Referendum.

David Bannerman: Still a liar

We note that David Bannerman persists in telling his new Tory chums that his great uncle was Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, the former liberal prime minister. He never gives up promoting that particular lie. He even told the BBC about this bogus claim at the time of his defection! LINK

Here are the facts:

Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman had no children. Bannerman is not his great, great nephew.

On Bannerman’s Bombay birth certificate his first names are David Campbell and his surname is Bannerman. He used to be known as David Bannerman. When he stood in Scotland (1997) it suddenly became David Campbell-Bannerman (with a hyphen). See: LINK

When he stood in 2001 for the Tories in Warrington and Leamington he reverted to David Bannerman

BBC NEWS VOTE 2001 RESULTS & CONSTITUENCIES Warwick & Leamington

The fable about being the great, great nephew of the dead prime minister wasn't used again until he joined UKIP.

Independence, Issue 63, Dec. 2005

A New Chairman

As some of you may have heard, UKIP has a new party chairman who will take office in January. David Campbell-Bannerman, a great nephew of former Liberal Prime Minister Henry Campbell-Bannerman. David is a senior PR consultant who is looking forward to taking up this new challenge. David contested North Cornwall for UKIP at the general election earlier this year. The January issue of Independence will feature more on David, but for now I am sure you will join me in wishing him all the best.

David Bannerman has said:

"I have explained on numerous occasions that C-B had no children, but that my link to him is through the Bannerman side"

and also

"Technically the link is actually great great great nephew".

If the first of these statements is true, the second must be untrue. The Liberal Prime Minister Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman was born Henry Campbell. His mother was a Janet Bannerman, whose brother left Sir Henry a fortune on condition that he adopted the Bannerman name. Therefore if David Bannerman's link to Sir Henry is through the Bannerman side, he cannot be Sir Henry's nephew or any other kind of descendant. The closeset he can be is a Bannerman first cousin several generations removed.

Even that is in doubt when you consider the possible reason for the uncle foisting his name on his sister Janet's son, Henry Campbell, the most likely being that he had no male heir of his own to carry on the Bannerman family name. That would make David Bannerman's relationship to Sir Henry (if one exists at all) even more distant, at closest a Bannerman second cousin several times removed.

Regarding Bannerman, the above suggests that his surname is really Bannerman and that Campbell is a Christian name which he now uses as if it were part of his surname. Whilst this does not rule out a distant relationship to Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, it doesn't prove one either.
