UKIP: More Derek Clark

We have already written about the planned move to remove Derek 'I luv a piece of Cod' Clark as Regional Chairman. He was to face a vote of no confidence, a vote that he was not going to win.

We can confirm that the East Midlands Regional Committee has been dissolved. This was proposed by Charles Swaby, a proposal that allowed Clark to stand down and thus prevent the humiliation of being removed by his fellow UKIPPERS.

A new committee will be formed in due course. We sincerely hope that Derek Clark will not be foolish enough to seek re-election as Regional Chairman under the new committee. The East Midlands needs new blood. The last thing it needs is a stupid old man leading them further into the abyss! For more on Clark: LINK

UKIP still fails to make election breakthrough despite Farage's spin

Mr Insincere

We note that Nigel Farage still continues to claim that UKIP is surging ahead in the polls. He further claims that UKIP will have the largest number of UK MEPs in 2014. He also claims that UKIP has now replaced the Lib Dems as 'Britain's third party'. So why aren't these claims reflected in recent by-election results? If half of what Farage said were true, UKIP would now be winning seats across the length and breadth of the UK. The reality is somewhat different........

UKIP: John Ison was once accused of trying to strangle his wife

John Ison: The man behind the allegations against Nikki Sinclaire - all with a little help from Nigel Farage

There has been much discussion on various forums and within UKIP's leadership cabal recently, about the antics of John Ison. Particularly, his appearance in court in August 2003 to answer charges of assaulting his wife.

In fact, a look at the court records reveals that he was actually accused of trying to strangle his wife.

Although cleared due to "lack of corroborative evidence" Ison admitted striking his wife on the nose. She also suffered a bruised right leg and right arm and was signed off work by her doctor.

In his defence, Ison claimed that he was actually the victim himself, and that his wife tried to strike him first.

In fact, there may be a hint of truth in this, as we can reveal that Ison was an abused husband. In 2002 he was the victim of an assault by his wife, being punched in the face as he was driving his car. A solicitor's letter to this effect was produced during his 2003 court case.

The fact, however, that Ison was banned by court order from going near his own children hints at a sad domestic situation in which violence was all to common.

It is said that all political careers end in failure. With the disclosure of Ison's past, it would appear that his has ended before it got off the ground!

UKIP: Clark, Helmer and Bloom

A dead whale on Skegness Beach - 'rotting from the head down' - was something of an attraction prior to the UKIP conference in the town.  Now why do we think of Farage's UKIP when we look at this picture?

Derek Clark

We can confirm the departure of Derek Clark as Regional Chairman of the East Midlands. He stood down at the last regional meeting. However, he jumped before he was pushed! There were increasingly concerns about his incompetence as RC and his lack of interest in supporting branches in the region. The collapse of UKIP membership in the region (now around 800) has also been laid squarely at his door. A motion of 'No Confidence' in Clark had been prepared for the last meeting, a motion that had majority support on the committee. Unfortunately, Clark was tipped off and he resigned in order to prevent the humiliation of being removed.

Derek Clark was recently ordered to pay back over £60,000 to the EU. For more on Clark: LINK

Roger Helmer

We can also confirm that members of the East Midlands Regional Committee were kept in the dark over Helmer's defection to UKIP. The first they learned about it was when it was leaked by a newspaper. As you can imagine, they are not exactly very happy at being kept in the dark. As one East Midlands UKIPPER has told the Junius Team, "We should have been consulted about this from the very beginning. It's simply not good enough. Obviously, our opinions don't count when it comes to selecting Derek's replacement".

Gravitas and Godfrey Bloom

The current level of  intellectual political debate in UKIP......

“Another conference, another hangover, eh?”. Bloom on the UKIP conference.

“If he had been born in Thailand, I am absolutely convinced that he would have been a lady”. Bloom describing Nick Clegg.

Well, at least Clegg hasn't been caught pissing in hotel corridors, admitted to using prostitutes, praised the murder of a Greenpeace activist, sits with the French National Front, makes drunken speeches etc, etc. And to think that UKIP could have had Richard North as the MEP for Yorkshire. UKIP: Gawain Towler and drunken louts thrown out of pubs in Skegness

Gawain Towler: Farage sycophant, wannabe MEP, former pot smoker and a man who likes to 'keep it up' in the bath. For more on this disgusting man: LINK

Interestingly, in response to the allegations below, the odious and disgusting Gawain Towler, UKIP Press Officer, replied:

“But to suggest we were all shouting insults and threatening people is ridiculous.”

But Gawain, if that was the case why were you asked to leave more than one pub????

We can confirm from other sources that the group in question was asked to leave other pubs due to concerns regarding their behaviour. And what of the locals in the pub who have confirmed the events in the article below? Are they all liars, Mr Towler??

And shoving UKIP leaflets in the faces of people trying to enjoy a quiet drink is hardly going to win you votes or is Mr Towler too stupid to realise that?

We note that Annabelle Fuller - Nigel Farage's mistress, collector of blackberry phones and on the EU payroll as Nigel's 'assistant' - was quick to rush to the defence of her drunken colleagues:

3:22 PM on 5/3/2012

What an absolute pile of nonsense. Have you heard of the 1996 defamation act? I look forward to reading the correction.

Ends.

Getting the 'Tart Without a Heart' to defend UKIP is not the wisest of moves. She is the last person you would want to fight your corner. She has more skeletons in her cupboard than Vlad the Impaler. It is rather like using Bill Clinton to promote fidelity in marriage or asking Jack the Ripper to promote the 'Vagina Monologues'.

We wonder what the Mirror would think if they knew all her little secrets? For more on Fuller: LINK

UKIP out of here! Rowdy right-wing activists barred from pubs

25 UK Independence Party members were handing out fliers when some apparently went crazy after being asked to leave a quiet boozer

A bunch of arrogant right-wing political activists were kicked out of a string of pubs in a night of shame.

The 25 UK Independence Party members were handing out fliers when some apparently went crazy after being asked to leave a quiet boozer.

They allegedly began threatening bar staff and police had to be called.

The cocky group – bedecked in Ukip badges – included disgraced former Tory MP Neil Hamilton.

Appalled drinker Clive Hales, 57, said: “I’ve never seen a bunch of ruder or brasher people.

“They were a bunch of Hooray Henrys and had clearly been drinking beforehand.

"They were asked to stop handing out their leaflets as it is not a political pub. That’s when the trouble started.”

Mr Hales claimed: “They said they’d get the place shut down. They were lairy and one (not Mr Hamilton) told a member of staff he was a barrister who’d ensure that he never worked again – all for asking him to be quiet.”

He said Mr Hamilton – who lost his Conservative seat in the cash for questions saga and was elected to Ukip’s national executive committee last year – had not been behaving badly but he added: “He did nothing to calm the situation.

"It’s ironic that they pride themselves on being the party of traditional British values and then go and behave like this.”

Trouble flared at the Red Lion as the activists tried to hand out Save the Pub fliers in Skegness, Lincs.

Among other stops was the Stumble Inn. A barman said: “They’d already been asked to leave other pubs.

They were told they couldn’t put leaflets here and were asked to go.”

Ukip press officer Gawain Towler, who attended the night out, said they had already paid for food and drink when told to go.

He said: “One of our younger members did shout something but he was immediately taken outside by one member and given a good talking to.

“But to suggest we were all shouting insults and threatening people is ridiculous.”

UKIP : Roger Helmer and the truth about that defection

Roger Helmer (right) with Rupert Matthews. Mr Matthews is the real reason behind Helmer's decision to quit the Tories

Much has been made over Roger Helmer's defection to UKIP. Many UKIPPERS at the Spring Conference gave him a standing ovation with a smiling Mr Helmer clearly basking in their adulation.

Helmer said: "The fact is that UKIP represents the values and interests of East Midlands Conservatives much better than Cameron's Tory Party does.

"I believe I can do a better job representing those views and interests as a member of UKIP than I could in the Tory Party.

"The European project is collapsing before our eyes, yet the three main parties remain wedded to the Brussels dream".

Here are some of the comments heard during the conference:

Isn't it wonderful? Roger will be great for UKIP.

Roger and Nigel make a wonderful team!

I'm glad Roger has finally realised UKIP is his natural political home.

I can't wait to start campaigning for him in 2014.

He left the Tories because he realised they had betrayed Britain.

Will he be joining the EFD? I hope so. He needs to be warned to keep away from Nikki Sinclaire and Mike Nattrass!

And so on. Such are the views of the gullible!

And doesn't the hypocrisy of UKIP's leadership make you sick. Remember when David Bannerman left UKIP to join the Tories? UKIP's leadership demanded that the MEP resign as he had betrayed the people who had elected him! And yet these very same people are now falling over themselves to welcome Helmer to the UKIP ranks! They have very short memories. Or is it just one law for UKIP and another for the rest?

So why did Roger Helmer really join UKIP? Did he really come to see Nigel Farage's UKIP as Britain's only hope as he claims? The truth is somwhat different........

Roger Helmer has been an MEP since 1999. He was a commited supporter of the EU but believed that our relationship with Brussels needed to change. He was a reformist. He later became more euro-sceptic but, despite this, refused repeated requests to join UKIP. Sometimes, his replies were less than complementary about the party!

So why did he jump ship? It all boils down to a sordid row over who was going to succeed him in the East Midlands. Helmer was planning to retire and wanted Rupert Matthews, his friend, to replace him. Tory Head Office had other plans! They felt that Mr Matthews was unsuitable. They also felt, quite rightly, that Mr Helmer should not be dictating terms over his successor. The farce continued with Mr Helmer threatening to remain the MEP unless he got his way. Head Office refused to budge and let it be known that Mr Helmer was 'extremly unlikely' to be re-selected as an MEP candidate in 2014. Helmer's gamble had failed and so he jumped before he was pushed.

So there you have it. Helmer's defection had nothing to do with 'seeing the light' as one UKIPPER has put it to us. Helmer joined UKIP to spite the Tories after failing to dictate to them who should replace him.

So what do UKIPPERS now feel about his deflection? Are they happy to be used by Helmer as nothing more than a way to thumb his nose at the party who refused to indulge his hissy fits and threats to resign?

We note that Roger Helmer's ego is just as big as Nigel Farage's. And, like Farage, he is more than happy to throw a tantrum if he can't get his way. That should make for an interesting relationship as they both seek to be the 'Voice and Face of UKIP' on TV and radio! Indeed, there are already calls in certain UKIPPER circles for Helmer to replace Farage as leader. It has also been suggested that Helmer stand as lead UKIP East Midlands MEP candidate in 2014. We can confirm that some UKIPPERS in the region concerned are less than happy with this prospect!

Mr Helmer has done very well out of the EU. Some would say that he has joined UKIP's leadership because they are as self-serving and hypocritical as he is – ready to condemn the EU but more than happy to live very well on an EU salary - all at the expense of the UK taxpayer.

UKIP: Steve Morson on John Ison

Nigel Farage has promised John Ison an MEP seat in the West Midlands in exchange for conducting a smear campaign against Nikki Sinclaire

John Ison: Wannabe MEP. Too stupid to realise that Farage will drop him like a hot brick when he has served his purpose

Steve Morson is a former UKIP activist in the West Midlands. Here is what he has to say about John Ison.

Personally, I've never had much of a problem with what's posted on Junius. It is what it is, and I've never met the vast majority of the people they comment about, so I form no opinions. As a one-time, highly-valued friend of mine used to say, "It's all good, clean politics!". However, with some individuals - in my acquaintance - they are bang on the money. So what do we have of 9:08am this morning?

This. To be honest, it's a bit of a rehash, but there is a line which is my inspiration to start this thread, and places much of the last 18 months of my life in context. And maybe that of Jill Seymour, who was also viciously 'stabbed in the back'.

This is the line: "We note that Nigel Farage has promised him an MEP seat in the West Midlands." This answers an unbelieveble amount of questions, if true. And as Junius has chosen "We note..." rather than "We hear...." or "We understand...." etc., why wouldn't it be?

1) I was told some time ago, from an unimpeachable source, he'd been going around the West Midlands, telling everyone he "wanted to be an MEP". I found this hilarious, given his knowledge and awareness of politics in general.

2) There had to be a reason why - for 2 people he regarded as "friends", he betrayed both with a nastiness that indicated a somewhat disturbed mind.

3) In my case, he poisoned my relationship with my employer, Mike Nattrass MEP, resulting in the loss of my job. Part of his motivation was to try and get my job!

4) I then found out, as a "close friend", he'd been undermining me on (and several other members of) the regional committee which I chaired (he was Secretary). He was behind a county committee initiative to destabilise Lord Pearson as Leader (see 10).

5) He has a hand in trashing 5 branches of the West Midlands region - the opinion abroad the region is that he's as much to blame for the catastrophic collapse here (the strongest region of the party in the European Parliament elections of June 2009) as anyone. With such an impaired party infrastructure (less branches and fewer motivated activists), who's going to turn out campaigning?

6) Rather than help "a friend" struggling in sub-zero snow for 2 important local elections (1 district and 1 county) here, he went to Oldham. But Junius indicated a very likely reason why. And also, why he manned Paul Nuttall's stand at Scarborough Spring conference.

7) His maligning of Jill Seymour was absolutely awful. A universally-liked and respected member of the party and it's NEC, he started nasty rumours from day 1 of her employment with Nikki Sinclaire, as he he did with Nikki Sinclaire's media representative Simon Williams. Both lost their jobs within weeks.

8) Then the "Nikki" stuff started. No more on that until "the dust settles", but it will need publishing in volumes. That will all end in tears. For many.

9) Then the libel. Personal e-mails from him to me, containing the most deranged and bizzare allegations, which he "never sent to anyone other than me". Except they found their way to Greg Lance-Watkins. I was told it would have been a good case, under the Defamation Act; I was just short of about £80,000 that's all. Because of course, there was more than one act of potential libel - Ison had passed them around; if you get a text message or e-mail from Ison, maybe another dozen people have it also.

10) So that's my "9-point plan" (An A4 list of 9 suggestions for the party leadership for top-to-bottom reform (post-2010 gen. elec.), a sore point in the West Midlands - it was handled very badly, and Malcolm Pearson wasn't interested because the regional committee had been undermined and subverted!) The 10th point, by the way, was for Lord P to resign - and then Ison writes this on here!:-

"...and have famously said "If Malcolm Pearson and Paul Nuttall don't resign then I WILL!!" Wow who do you think you are?"

Ison recorded the regional and county committee meetings - now we know why. As with personal emails, they probably went all over the place.

The personal betrayals, the damage to the party infrastructure, the laziness at elections and other times of high activity, this individual isn't fit to clean the toilets of the EU parliament, much less occupy it's chamber.

And this is what Richard Allen - leading UKIP activist - had to say in reply:

A very interesting post from Steve Morson. Much of it requires no further comments but the idea that John Ison has been promised a high place on the MEP list is one that requires comment. If this is true it would be utterly catastrophic for the party for at least two reasons.

Firstly Ison has done little or nothing for the party in the West Midlands since the 2010 general election and some might say that what he did before then was less than helpful. Many of the region's dedicated activists would no doubt be seriously affronted at the prospect of someone who has done so little being placed high on the MEP list. Secondly Ison being placed in a high profile position would no doubt lead to considerable media scrutiny which would have the potential to cause serious damage to the party.
