UKIP Spin in Barnsley & David Bannerman tries a rebrand

The UKIP candidate: Jane Collins

Much has been made of a poll published in the Mail. LINK. Indeed, UKIP’s spin doctors have been busy telling everyone that the poll proves that support for UKIP is growing. According to the Mail and certain UKIP officials, Ms Collins is on 9% of the vote after you play around with the figures!

So let’s take a closer look at the poll in question.

507 people were contacted by telephone. Not all of those contacted (27%) agreed to answer the questions put to them. The poll states that 4% intend to vote UKIP. That makes just 20 people!

How encouraging! Next stop, Number 10 for our Nigel!

And can we expect the usual crowing if UKIP beats the BNP into fifth place? And there was us thinking that UKIP was there to get the UK of the EU!

From the Mail:

Poll Data Published on 27-Feb-2011:

The raw unweighted results were as follows:
For which of the following candidates are you most likely to vote?

Dan Jarvis (Labour) 34%
James Hockney (Conservative) 5%
Enis Dalton (BNP) 1%
Jane Collins (UKIP) 4%
Dominic Carman (Liberal Democrats) 1%
Another Party 2%
Undecided 17%
Will not vote 9%
Refuse to say 27%

Fieldwork dates: February 24th – February 25th

Interview Method: Telephone.

Population sampled: Adults 18+ registered to vote in Barnsley Central

Sampling Method: Within the parliamentary constituency of Barnsley Central registered voters with were targeted in a balanced way across the wards of Barnsley Central, Darton East, Darton West, Kingstone, Monk Bretton, Old Town, Royston and St Helens.

Sample size: 507

Meanwhile, David Bannerman’s desperate attempts to rebrand himself prove futile.....

UKIP: Farage on Mumsnet

Poor Nigel! He really thought that his appearance on Mumsnet – an internet chat site - would be a triumph. It sadly proved otherwise!

Even getting UKIP supporters to join the site and post positive comments about the glorious Fuhrer proved a disaster. Real Mumsnet posters quickly noticed the sudden appearance of new pro-Farage supporters and were less than impressed. Farage was forced to apologise for the trolls:

"Yes, I am embarrassed by it. If they weren't members of Mumsnet before, they should have left well alone." See: LINK

But he convientantly forgot to mention the fact that certain UKIP officials had asked members to join the site and praise Farage in order to "give Mumsnet users a good impression of Nigel and our policies"

Here are a few comments for your enjoyment. All were taken from the Mumsnet website:

Eleison Tue 22-Feb-11 13:50:15

I don't really want to talk to somone who is prepared to play to Islamophobia in order to play up to the racism of the BNP voters he wants to win over.

scottishmummy Tue 22-Feb-11 13:58:30

forthright is that euphemism for offensive, odious? certainly i will participate, not hard to refute his odious views. am suprised you invited him though

SheikYerbouti Tue 22-Feb-11 14:00:11

I can see he will be a popular choice hmm

DirtyMartini Tue 22-Feb-11 14:18:08

shock

hmm

Oh well, I suppose it's in the interests of giving all parties a fair hearing. But ew
.

FioFio Tue 22-Feb-11 14:26:08

Nigel, have you ever thought about borrowing Kilroy's sunbed?

scottishmummy Tue 22-Feb-11 15:14:24

Nigel, you regularly misrepresent statistics eg you said europe now makes 75% uk laws.this is untrue.do you use such tactics to incite indignation and create misplaced ire?

StewieGriffinsMom Tue 22-Feb-11 15:26:46

I believe a number of Mumsnetters are expressing their opinions on Farage and UKIP via silent protest.

MmeLindt Tue 22-Feb-11 15:27:06

Shirley

The idea was not to engage, to show our distaste of Farage's policies. Like turning your back on him. Not sure if it will work though, since we seem to have some new posters.

?

TondelayoSchwarzkopf Tue 22-Feb-11 16:35:59

I didn't get my view that his party's policies are odious, offensive and Islamophobic from the Guardian and the BBC Jay. I got them from the election materials UKIP put through my door last May.

If he wants to be on here - and check out his website - the Mumsnet logo takes up half the front page - I agree that he should be allowed his voice. He won't be doing himself any favours imo.

I won't be putting any questions. I don't give a hoot about his policies and I think any pro-smoking, 'climate change' skeptic isn't worth wasting my energy on.

foxytocin Tue 22-Feb-11 16:40:28

won't be around to give this hot air balloon the attention he seeks.

FannyFifer Tue 22-Feb-11 18:27:39

UKIP, seriously!

Any member or candidates of UKIP in my area are all seriously unhinged, sure why not get the BNP on as well.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf Tue 22-Feb-11 18:58:44

It's 3.1% of the votes. Fact fans. I think 3.1% is a gross under-estimation of the number of unhinged around us.

Look at this way, 97% people didn't vote for them.

Isn't being the UK's fourth biggest party, a bit like being the world's third biggest cola brand?

SheikYerbouti Tue 22-Feb-11 19:06:34

This is going almost as well as that goat woman's webchat, you know, the one married to that horrid little man Zac "shagger" Goldsmith

AitchTwoOh Tue 22-Feb-11 20:14:13

it's a bit of a cringe for Farage that he's obviously put the word out for his cronies to join MN and appear here.

this thread looked silly enough, but this is now the fifth or so completely new poster with an in-depth knowledge of UKIP policy... Nige, you need to learn how to play it cool.

?

whomovedmychocolate Tue 22-Feb-11 20:24:02

Oy Justine can I come on and hold a webchat on behalf of my bizarre cult as well. It must surely be my turn next no? grin

Question for Nigel Farage: what kind of biscuits do you like - I'm assuming not dark chocolate ones. hmm

s

MmeLindt Tue 22-Feb-11 21:19:01

This is ridiculous.

This thread should be locked to those who were registered before the webchat was announced.

Otherwise I fear that Nigel will answer the smarmy questions of his supporters and ignore those of the posters of MN.

GawainTowler Tue 22-Feb-11 23:19:28

Just as a comment to you all, and with a disclaimer that I work for UKIP. The reason why Farage asked to have the webchat is because you, the Mumsnet crowd are an important audience. Simple as that.

I can assure you that nobody has been asked to troll, people have been directed to the forum because it could be interesting. After all these fora have their reputation as being less than supine.

And if we in UKIP are serious, then we have to venture out of our own comfort zone. What do we expect from you? Well Farage doesn't expect soft soap, but common courtesy would be appreciated.

Other than that, hope you all enjoy the opportunity to ask him questions directly, or berate him with impunity.

MmeLindt Wed 23-Feb-11 10:07:31

MNHQ

Can you delete this thread and start a new one with only members allowed to post if they have been on MN for at least a month?

This is ridiculous. And it is doing Nigel Farage no favours either.

QueenOfFlippingEverything Wed 23-Feb-11 10:13:34

Of course it must stand, though I think it should be locked and the new thread limited to genuine members.

Its the real face of UKIP innit - gatecrashing a parenting website to call the members 'feminazis'.

I'm sure Nigel Farage will be very proud smile

AitchTwoOh Wed 23-Feb-11 12:39:57

wow, this is more embarrassing already than i could ever have imagined. you UKIP people are not cool...

DamselInDisguise Wed 23-Feb-11 14:56:47

I just looked to see what the UKIP colours are and, my poor eyes, that is an ugly website.

If that yellow and pink pound sign logo is anything to go by, I never want to see the UKIP vision of new British design!

TondelayoSchwarzkopf Wed 23-Feb-11 14:57:53

Here are their election leaflets from last year:

Lurid pink and yellow straight from Barbie: The Movie.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf Wed 23-Feb-11 14:58:34

That's Barbie the popular fashion doll, not Klaus Barbie if any UKIP fans are reading
.

madamimadam Wed 23-Feb-11 14:58:59

MrsDeVere, Battenburgs surely have a rich Teutonic heritage, in keeping with the acceptable racial profile of UKIP teatime treats.

It's those degenerate Welsh cakes we should all be shunning. Feckless, cowardly Celtic pastries that they are...

DamselInDisguise Wed 23-Feb-11 15:02:33

The UKIP leaflets look like they are for a dodgy loan company. They only reinforce my concerns about what they consider to be the future of British design.

Or perhaps they're basing the claim that British designers need to get a move on and do something different based on their experience with the —crappy— designers they chose to employ.

thefirstMrsDeVere Wed 23-Feb-11 15:06:48

Now I know this is my personal opinion... but I think people who join UKIP are too cowardly to join the BNP. Whenever I see a UKIP poster in a window I think 'I bet you wish that was a BNP one'

Just my opinion...

DamselInDisguise Wed 23-Feb-11 15:35:50

I do hope that Nigel isn't stopping by to defecate, hymie.

He might (OK, will) talk shit though.

UKIP: More Farage hypocrisy while Nikki Sinclaire exposes EU waste

Nigel relaxes with his fascist EFD friends after a taxpayer-funded jolly to Finland

Farage on yet another UK taxpayer-funded jolly. This time he pops up in Finland!

http://www.efdgroup.eu/news/218-farage.html

Did we miss something? We rather thought that UKIP MEPs were committed to not going on taxpayer funded 'jollies'?

But now we see that Farage and his far-right EFD group recently popped up in Finland, complete with an entourage of staff. Have the rules changed for UKIP, or is it simply that Farage makes up the rules as he goes along?

Nikki Sinclaire on yet more EU waste

If only Farage was as committed to doing what he was elected to do! But sadly, Farage went native years ago!

From Nikki's blog:

These six full body security scanners were purchased by the EU in 2005 at a cost in excess of £100,000 each. They have never been used and were ordered without consultation. These machines have been left to rot on pallets in a disused garage in the depths of the parliament building. It was quite a task to locate them!

I have made it a task this year especially to identify waste, corruption and irresponsible use of taxpayers money in these times of extreme austerity. This is another example of the waste and mismanagement in the European Union, indeed, taxpayer subsidised bureaucracy. This is only a small portion of the £50 million a day the UK gives the EU but it is endemic of how the EU is fundamentally flawed. It beggars belief that these unelected bureaucrats purchased the most expensive machines available at the time, they seem impervious to economic realities.

MEP's put their their own self importance ahead of the security in the parliament with many refusing to undergo the simplest of security checks led the campaign to stop the use of these machines in the parliament which are in use in 70 airports across Europe including Manchester and London Heathrow.

Security in the parliament is a great cause for concern following three robbery's in a many years and a journalist managing to smuggle in a toy gun and stand yards away from Prince Charles on his recent visit, bureaucrats are running around like headless chickens looking for someone to blame often picking on the lowest in the chain.

It looks like a national Sunday newspaper will be taking the story up.

Nikki Sinclaire Press Release on UKIP

Nikki agrees to set aside judgement in order to find common ground

Press Release

Re: Employment Tribunal Hearing Monday 28th February 2010 in Exeter

Nikki Sinclaire MEP v UK Independence Party, Nigel Farage MEP & Godfrey Bloom MEP

Upon consideration of the respondents' claims of administrative error in this matter, and the offer of 'round table discussion' for an overall settlement of her differences with the UK Independence Party on condition she agrees to setting aside the Judgment of the Employment Tribunal of 8th December which found in her favour, Nikki Sinclaire said:

"If a way forward can be reached regarding this unfortunate dispute with UKIP by me agreeing to set this matter aside than I am only too happy to oblige. I spent 16 years working for the growth and success of UKIP and obviously I still believe, and actively campaign, for its core platform - withdrawal from the European Union. This issue is far more important than individuals or personalities."

"This will put the matter back to stage one and if negotiations prove futile, I will robustly pursue my claim in the tribunal. I was pleased that Mr Boom MEP recently gave a written undertaking to the Presidsent of the European Parliament stating he would leave me alone."

Note

Nikki Sinclaire MEP was given default judgement on Sexual Orientation Discrimination by Judge Harper on 8 December after UKIP and the co-respondents failed to file a defence.

UKIP: Derek Clark is once again exposed as a liar.

It seems that Dippy Derek just gets more confused with every passing day!

Last September, Clark told the East Midlands Committee that he was NOT under investigation by OLAF (LINK). He even claimed that the investigation numbers circulated by GLW, Andrew Edwards and this blog were fakes. Sadly, certain very gullible UKIPPERS believed him.

On Monday, the East Midlands Committee was shown confirmation (a letter from OLAF) that Clark WAS under investigation. Clark was exposed as a liar.

Clark blustered and then claimed that he had NEVER denied a fraud investigation by OLAF!

Peter Baker – a UKIPPER from Rutland – was quick to point out Clark’s earlier denial.

Don Ransome – UKIP RO and convicted drunk driver – grabbed the OLAF letter and expressed surprise that he was not mentioned in it!

Don’t worry, Don. We can assure you that OLAF officials have been looking at the way Clark financed you. Are you starting to feel the heat?

We were amused to hear that Derek Clark has declined to pop across to Barnsley and help the UKIP candidate in her bid to get elected. Even Farage managed to drag himself away from Annabelle Fuller in order to help out!

Clark cited ill-health as the reason for his non-attendance. So do us all a favour and resign! UKIP would then have one less EU supporting traitor, liar and fool in Brussels to worry about.

UKIP: Derek Clark has a hissy fit

Poor Derek. On Monday, UKIP East Midlands held another regional meeting in Newark. We had already publicised this and Derek was less than pleased. LINK

The planned attempt to remove Clark as regional chairman failed due to a sudden lack of courage on the part of certain members. No surprise there. UKIP Eastern Region also lacks members with the balls to stand up to Bannerman, Agnew and Reeve. And let us not even talk about UKIP South East!

The meeting was responsibly attended but it soon descended into farce with Ransome (including wife) and Clark losing the plot after OLAF was mentioned. Indeed, Ransome seemed on the point of attacking one fellow UKIPPER!

Here are the case numbers:

Derek Clark OLAF Case Number: D/007/033/04.09.08

Derek Clark OLAF Investigation Number: DD/FD-
D2008.A1/7133/OF/2008/0240

Clark has been under investigation by the EU’s anti-fraud body OLAF. It is claimed that Derek Clark used EP money to employ a person (Andrew Fear) who worked as a membership officer for UKIP in the party headquarters in Devon and did not work for Clark. This would appear to be against EU expenses rules

Clark also complained during the meeting about internal leaks to this blog, GLW and Andrew Edwards. He is even threatening legal action against us! How we rocked with laughter upon hearing that empty threat! So UKIP wants to lose another case? Have they learned nothing? Alan Hardy beat them, so did Nikki, so did John West and let us not forget GLW and Croucher’s failed attempt to bankrupt him.

We can also confirm that Derek Evans and his wife have resigned from UKIP. Their resignation was connected to their allegations about Gerard Batten and Pala Daly. LINK. The allegations were totally untrue.

The East Midlands was one of the jewels in UKIP's crown.

The region had two MEPs, with thousands of members, a considerable branch structure covering all six counties, regular branch and regional meetings all properly conducted with traditional courtesies and Northamptonshire's 6 constituency PPC's producing an informative monthly newsletter, plenty of team spirit, leafleting chosen areas on Saturdays and finally no shortage of local authority election candidates standing everywhere.

And now?

Years of Derek Clark's incompetence has led to this......

The region now has 420 members.

Don Ransome – the RO – is a convicted drink driver. LINK

In Brussels, you will often find Clark asleep at his desk. And that is about as animated as he gets nowadays.

Clark is a liar, a fool and a traitor to the British people.

Let us not forget that in 2007, Clark betrayed everything that UKIP stood for by signing an agreement in Bucharest endorsing subsidiarity and the Common Agricultural Policy. Subsidiarity is an EU doctrine which assumes EU sovereignty. Accepting subsidiarity means accepting ultimate EU sovereignty.

This nasty little man is a very grubby stain that needs to be removed from UKIP as soon as possible.

UKIP: Nikki Sinclaire Press Release

Press Release - 22 Feb 2011

The EU has no money - Its Official!

In response to a formal question, the European Commission has admitted that it has "No financial reserves...". Nikki Sinclaire, independent MEP for the West Midlands, was shocked by the revelation.

"The Commission has actually admitted to me that neither it, nor the other EU institutions, have any financial reserves, and are effectively living from hand to mouth. In the event of member states failing to make their contributions on time, the EU institutions could find themselves unable to meet their considerable financial commitments."

"This is in the context of an economic crisis, where certain member states are actually being bailed out by the EU, and with others looking likely to follow suit" she said. "Belgium, for example, is the home of the EU institutions, and its national debt has risen to 100% of GDP. It is effectively a bankrupt nation."

Article 12 of the Council Regulation 1150/2000, however, allows for the Commission to spend money borrowed against future income. "It is a really perverse business plan that depends on being able to borrow from bankrupts", said Nikki.

UKIP: John Ison

What is it about Nigel 'Spivboy' Farage that attracts the immoral, the amoral, the dissolute, the feckless and the downright corrupt? We don't know about you, but we think its because they recognise a kindred spirit!!!

Take, John Ison, from Solihull. Although he is chairman of UKIP's Solihull and Meriden branch, it would seem that he has wilfully assisted Spivboy's efforts to destroy Nikki Sinclaire's reputation - someone who once gave him employment, and who is still his local MEP.

If only a fraction of the claims made against Ison were true, Ison would be utterly despicable. But when one realises that he only behaves in this manner to please his idol (Spivboy), and then only because he believes the Spiv will reward him with an MEPship in due course, despicable doesn't really come close to describing this self gratifying slime-ball!

Take for example this comment to the Solihull Observer in May last year.

Asked:

What makes you angry? Ison replied: Liars and Cheats.

Ha! We don't think so Mr Ison. Firstly you idolise one such person, and, to the casual observer, it would seem that you yourself fit such a description!

UKIP: Nigel Farage, Annabelle Fuller and John Ison seek to protect the EU

Last week, the News of the World published an excellent article - with help from Nikki Sinclaire - on corruption in the EU. LINK.

As you can imagine, Farage was less than happy with Ms Sinclaire getting such extensive media coverage. That the article exposed endemic corruption in the EU was of no consequence to Farage. He needs the EU Gravy Train in order to live a lavish lifestyle. Without it there would be no ego serving appearances on Question Time, a fat EU pension or a massive bank account in the Isle of Man.

The NOTW was going to publish another damning article - with more input from Nikki Sinclaire - on how MEPs fiddle the system.

The 4000 account was one of the scams under the spotlight. See: LINK

As you can imagine, Farage was less than keen to see THAT in print.

So a spoiler story was fed to the NOTW by Farage' sycophants. This concerned false allegations that Ms Sinclaire had made incorrect travel allowance claims.

That Annabelle Fuller colluded in the spoiler to protect her lover would seem likely on information received. However, the primary source would appear to be John Ison. See: LINK . Ison is desperate to become an MEP and is willing to prostitute himself in order to achieve this aim. Such are the filth and scum that Farage surrounds himself with.

John Ison: Farage sycophant, liar, MEP wannabe and serial idiot

The NOTW article was pulled at the last minute.

So thanks to Farage, Fuller and Ison, a damning article on EU corruption will not now be read by the 7,000,000 claimed readers of the paper in question.

STILL believe that Farage wants out of the EU? Ask yourself one question .......Why would a man truly committed to leaving the EU seek to suppress the truth about EU/MEP corruption?

UKIP: Where is the money?

Only Nikki Sinclaire and Mike Nattrass have published full and transparent MEP accounts.

None of UKIP's EFD MEPs are willing to do the same. Clearly, they have much to hide!

Is Farage really worth A SINGLE penny of taxpayers' money? Is Bannerman? Or the odious Nuttall? Or Dartmouth? Or Agnew? Or Bufton? Or Bloom? Or Andreasen? Or Clark? Or Colman?

Do you want your taxes to fund Farage's EFD slush fund. Where is the audit for the 4000 Account? Would you trust Farage with almost £3 million per annum? Where is the money?

Why has Farage repeatedly declined to publish a full audit of the £2 million he claimed in expenses? And what about the infamous Isle of Man account? Why does Farage refuse to come clean about how that is funded?

Did YOU know that an MEP is now costed at £2.59 million a year? Can YOU name ONE SINGLE EFD MEP that is worth that? Do you really want your taxes funding such useless lowlife?

Farage and his sycophants = Corrupt, self-seeking, parasites.

Is there no one in UKIP with a brain?

A former UKIP chairman on UKIP.

From his letter:

FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE IS THERE NO ONE IN UKIP WITH A BRAIN?

Nigel Farage is going to be coming out in favour of AV - he will be arguing the case for it on Newsnight either today or soon after.

AV will get UKIP more votes but will not result in any won seats for UKIP.

UKIP will win NONE and the beneficiaries will be the Lib Dems and socialists and Britain will NEVER have a conservative or patriotic majority in Parliament ever again. Government will be like Italy and the EU - they will have won.

The worst thing about AV is that the lowest common denominator candidate may win. It is the worst of all worlds.

If a patriot supports AV either he doesn't understand AV or he is stupid. Or both.

If AV wins we can say goodbye to any hope of swinging the Commons to a NO vote against the EU if we have to go to 2015 or earlier if the Coalition breaks as it might - and we are getting there slowly yes, but movement is a good thing.

The EU wants us to have any form of PR because it creates confusions with no possibility of clear leadership, law and government.

UKIP is up the creek without a paddle on this one and I despise it. I wish I had not wasted years trying to make a party credible when the leadership has its head so far shoved up its own backside.

DAMN UKIP is there no one left with a brain???????????????????

FPTP is the system that works - AV is for crooked politicians and you will, is AV comes through - never vote for a person, just a party and ALL parties will be controlled by the EU -

WAKE UP YOU PATHETIC IDIOTS! UKIP does not win at FPTP because it is not GOOD ENOUGH! And it will not win under AV. AV is a suicide note to freedom.

Peter Watson

Former Chairman UKIP North Dorset.

Annabelle Fuller now working for UKIP

Annabelle Fuller looks forward to spending some very low quality bedroom time with Nigel
Farage

Annabelle Fuller – the tart without a heart – is now back on the UKIP payroll. We hear she is being employed in the press office.

You may recall that Annabelle ‘Bury Me in a Y-Shaped Coffin’ Fuller - is Farage’s long-term mistress. She was also a UKIP press officer but sadly overstepped the mark when she posted John West’s MEP video interview on You Tube. John Whittaker – UKIP chairman at the time - threatened to resign unless she was sacked. Farage resisted for 48 hours but finally gave in and VERY reluctantly let her go. She ended up working for the British Legion. UKIP was later found guilty of a breach of confidence in Ipswich County Court.

Fuller later found a job with the Army Benevolent Fund after getting the push from the British Legion. It appears that someone in Brussels contacted the Legion with certain information which they found highly distasteful. We hear it had something to do with the contents of her blog.

Fuller was listed as the ABF’s ‘Media Relations Manager’. She later got the push from that as well. It seems they became aware of her rather sordid past.

Ms Fuller is a deeply troubled soul. She once actually believed that Farage would leave his wife for her which shows you just how naive she really is. Silly girl!

We will never forget Annabelle’s little incident with the broken wine glass. We hope the scars are now fully healed. And what about the time she was carried out of the Brussels Parliament on a stretcher?

But back to her return to the UKIP fold.

We can confirm that a tabloid approached Fuller and did indeed offer her a reasonable sum of money if she was willing to spill the beans on Farage and UKIP. The only way Farage could stop this happening was to quickly re-employ her on a very generous salary.

So Farage’s mistress is back with UKIP. How must Nigel’s wife feel? The poor lady!

UKIP: Nikki Sinclaire in the Sunday Times & Dr Edmond on the failure of UKIP

More stirling work from Nikki Sinclaire in the Sunday Times. And another excellent blog article by Dr Edmond on the failure of Farage's UKIP.

From the Sunday Times:

Cameron to appoint new £1m-a-year MEP

With cuts beginning to bite, the government's move to install a new MEP is labelled undemocratic and a waste of taxpayers' money

Marie Woolf

Published: 13 February 2011

The government is to install an extra Tory MEP at a cost of more than £1m a year, in a move that has been condemned as undemocratic and a waste of taxpayers’ money.

Foreign Office ministers are pushing through a law that will create a new seat for an MEP in the West Midlands constituency. The move follows a reconfiguring of seats in the European parliament that has given Britain the right to an additional MEP.

The government has decided the seat will go to a Conservative, based on the results of the last European election in the region, without holding a fresh election.

Opposition MEPs say the seat should only be created at the next European election in 2014. They argue this would be more democratic and would save money. An MEP costs about £1.2m a year in salary, office and staff costs, travel expenses, pensions and other allowances. The money will come out of the European parliament budget, which is partly funded by British taxpayers.

Nikki Sinclaire, an independent MEP for the West Midlands, called for the plan to appoint the MEP before 2014 to be scrapped. She said the money should be used to save services facing cuts.

“It is unbelievable when essential public services such as libraries and school maintenance are being cut to the bone that the government is legislating to appoint another politician,” she said.

Critics say that if a by-election had been held, the Tories would have risked losing in a region that also has significant Labour and UK Independence party support.

The new Tory MEP will take up his or her seat when all EU states have ratified the protocol. Britain is ratifying the change via the European Union Bill, now passing through parliament. The MEP is expected to take up the seat by early next year.

Yesterday, the Foreign Office said: “Like all member states, we agreed in June to ratify this protocol as soon as possible, to enable the additional MEPs to be returned to the European parliament.

“It is in no way a question of the government ‘appointing’ an additional MEP.

“The European Council outlined a number of ways that the 12 EU member states concerned could elect their additional MEPs. Like most other states who gain an additional MEP, the UK will do this by referring to the results of the last European parliamentary elections in 2009.”

The Electoral Commission said it had calculated where an extra MEP could be located, but the government had decided how the seat would be filled.

It said: “We recommended that the extra seat be allocated to the West Midlands region. That is where our remit ends.”

The commission chose the West Midlands because it has the highest number of voters per MEP of anywhere in Britain.

Dr Edmond on why UKIP is not fit for purpose

Dr Edmond was thrown off UKIP's NEC for trying to raise concerns about widspread corruption in UKIP.

From his blog:

UKIP needs more members, more talent and more UK effort to even start on the road to getting our country back by repealing the 1972 European Communities Act. Since Farage and his Cabal have taken control of UKIP membership has fallen steadily, activists, the life blood of any political party who disagree with Farage have been kicked out, and sycophantic placemen put into all the important party positions. No serious political party carries on like this. You only see this behaviour in cults where a gullible and uncritical membership are conned by, and blindly supports, a corrupt leadership whose only interest is in lining their own pockets.

Look at those at the top of UKIP enjoying a luxurious cosseted lifestyle set up by the EU but paid for ultimately by UK taxpayers. They are tame, pampered, toothless EU poodles kept in Brussels who give Barroso and the other Eurocrats democratic credibility by enabling them to claim they tolerate anti-EU parties. Its tokenism plain and simple. Ask the brothers or the sisterhood.

The lack of talent in the current UKIP leadership is staggering. Look at the elderly, self satisfied Derek Clark, UKIP MEP for the East Midlands but seldom seen there. Under him UKIP in the East Midlands has gone from the strongest region in the country in the heyday of RKS to one of closed and zombie branches with a few deeply unhappy remaining members. Its a microcosm of what is happening to UKIP over the whole UK. Godfrey Bloom UKIP MEP for Yorkshire is an embarrassment with his crass public behaviour. Bannerman, Dartmouth and Farage are ex-Tories whose political ambitions were judged by the Tory party to be far in excess of their limited talents and deemed not to be worthy of a safe Tory parliamentary seat. Given the low standard of the average Tory MP that is a pretty damning verdict.

Honest and integrity can make up for lack of ability but even in that UKIP is lacking. When was Andreasen last seen in South East region she was elected to represent? Why does Trevor Colman sit in Brussels with Farage's nasty neo-Nazi, mid-European associates. How many relatives of UKIP members died at the hands of the Nazis in the Second World War? Do the ordinary UKIP members know their cult leader associates with neo-Nazi parties in Brussels? I think not. Nicky Sinclair has shown how effective honesty, integrity and consistency can be in opposing the EU. Not surprising then she was kicked out of UKIP.

Why is Malcolm Pearson, Farage's puppet leader of UKIP, a man who at the last General Election campaigned for the Tories, still in the UKIP ruling group? Could this happen in any other party? I don't think so.

Then we have ex-chairman Nuttall MEP who counts success as defeating the BNP for 4th place in elections. UKIP is supposed to be about getting us out of the EU and the best way to handle the BNP is to ignore them! Comrade Nuttall would do better to address the needs of the jobless of Merseyside and try and recruit them for UKIP.

There is also UKIP's top management , Crowther and Duffy. No significant management track record and no organisational ability seems to sum them up. The current NEC is full of wannabe MEPs or more correctly wannabe on the gravy train who are therefore beholden to Farage for preferment.

There are many able and talented people who want us out of the EU but how many will want to join a cult party which measures its success by the leaders appearances and applause on Question Time. Its only MPs in Westminster that can get us out of the EU. This needs organisation and hard work in local elections addressing the issues of jobs, schools and health that impinge on peoples lives and earns their trust to vote for UKIP when it matters. It needs a leader who attracts people in, not one who kicks people out. Until Farage and his clique go this will not change. UKIP numbers will continue to decline, the sycophants will squabble about getting onto the EU gravy train, the BBC will continue to massage Farage's vanity with QT invites etc and UKIP will continue to slide into the garbage can of history.

I pray I will someday see our country free from the EU but clearly Farage's UKIP will play no part in our freedom struggle.

Greedy MEPs exposed by Nikki Sinclaire in the News of the World

I hope they don't come after me. Quick, hide the paperwork!

Congratulations to Nikki Sinclaire for working with the NOTW to expose the mass corruption in the EU. It comes as no surprise that so many MEPs are fiddling the system.

Farage is reportedly spitting feathers over Nikki's latest excellent media exposure. This would have never have happened if Nikki had stayed in the EFD group. Farage would NEVER have allowed another UKIP MEP to get so much publicity. His fragile ego would NEVER allow another MEP to upstage him!

She puts ALL of UKIP MEPs to shame. Where were they? Too busy living the good life at the EU's expense!

EU cash snatchers

Tory and Labour MEPs in sneaky new exes ploy

By Guy Basnett and David Coverdale

SNEAKY British MEPs are claiming cash for a day's work in Brussels before scuttling to the Eurostar minutes later and travelling HOME.

We caught Tory Robert Sturdy and Labour's Peter Skinner turning up at the Euro parliament at the crack of dawn to punch their card to grab £258 daily expenses.

Whistleblower... Ms Sinclaire

The allowance from struggling taxpayers is supposed to cover the cost of them attending official business in Brussels.

But our investigation found these grasping Euro MPs didn't stick around.

Instead they jumped into a plush official car, with their suitcases in tow, and arrived at the Eurostar terminal less than 45 MINUTES later before heading back to Blighty.

And they're not alone. Hordes of foreign MEPs are at it too.

This will outrage hard-working Brits who hand over £8.5BILLION a year to Europe - £137 per person - to pay for these pampered politicians. And it will be a huge embarrassment for Prime Minister David Cameron who in 2008 stepped in to clean up his party's expenses system in Brussels.

He said at the time: "Just as I expect our MPs to adhere to the highest standards, so must MEPs. The taxpaying public have a right to know how their money is being spent and politicians have a duty to ensure it is spent properly."

Disgusted West Midlands MEP Nikki Sinclaire agreed to expose her fellow Euro politicians - who earn £80,955 a year NOT including expenses.

Working with her, we filmed on Fridays in the parliament buildings of Brussels in Belgium and Strasbourg, France. We found members from all over Europe exploiting the signing-in system.

Greedy MEPs were QUEUEING outside the Attendance Office even before it opened at 7am.

Of the 160 Euro MPs we filmed signing in before 10am, more than a third - 54 - arrived with overnight bags and suitcases. At least 25 left parliament shortly after.

Of these, we caught nine arriving at the airport shortly after, ready to fly home, as well as our Brits on Eurostar.

Ms Sinclaire, who runs campaigns from her website www.yourmep.org, said: "It's a disgrace. On a Friday, when parliament is virtually closed, MEPs still sign in for their £258 and then head straight for the exit doors.

"Many people don't earn £258 a week, but some MEPs claim it for a day when they're in for barely an hour. Taxpayers should know how their cash is being spent."

In Brussels, East of England Euro MP Mr Sturdy, 66, signed for his daily expenses at just 7:18am. And balding South East MEP Mr Skinner, 51, was close behind his pal, signing in at 7.40am.

The pair arrived at Brussels Midi station together at 8.04am, jumping out of a chauffeur-driven people carrier in good time for the 8.29am Eurostar. Two hours later we caught them at London's St Pancras station.

The Brits were caught on camera two days ago, but on other days of filming we found a string of MEPs turning up early to claim their cash in Brussels.

It was still barely light on January 28 when Polish Euro MP Jolanta Hibner, 60, wheeled her suitcase into parliament to sign in at 7.58am. We pictured her at Brussels Airport just 22 minutes later, ready to fly home.

Another Polish MEP, Adam Gierek, 72, signed in at 8.01am with a colleague. We captured him stepping out of a chauffeur-driven car at the airport at 10:51am.

Then Portuguese Euro MP Ilda Figueiredo 62, signed the register at 8:20am before being spotted at departures at 10:04am.

And Spanish MEP, purple-haired Eider Gardiazabal Rubial, 35, wheeled her suitcase to the Attendance Office at 9:56am, before being seen at the airport at 10:20am.

In Strasbourg, despite screens showing no official business on January 21, dozens of MEPs claimed expenses in the early hours.

We caught Polish Euro MP Danuta Jazlowiecka, 53, signing in at 9.21am, wheeling a suitcase. Then, at 9:42am - just 21 minutes later - she arrived at Strasbourg airport.

There are only 134 days of official parliamentary business - which does NOT include Fridays - in a year, worth £34,538 in daily allowances. By also signing in on the 37 Fridays, each MEP can trouser £9,537 extra.

Mr Sturdy said he worked late on Thursday night and that a power failure at King's Cross would have made getting home difficult. He added: "I'm signing in because I'm doing my job. As vice chair of international trade I have a lot on at the moment." He admitted he "often" signed in on Fridays.

Mr Skinner said: "It is often the case I will work six days on the trot, some of which will be spent in the constituency. My first duty is to represent people across the South-East which is sometimes best done face-to-face"

But EU rules state the allowance which they claimed is supposed to cover expenses like accommodation and meals incurred by attending official meetings away from their home country on the day signed for.

Ms Jazlowiecka's aide told us: "It is not breaking rules to sign in and leave." And Ms Figueiredo's spokesman said it was up to parliament to determine what she could claim.

UKIP: Nikki Sinclaire to feature in News of the World

Nikki Sinclaire is to be featured in tomorrow's News of the World. The article is by Guy Basnett. Farage won't like it!

Another terrible UKIP election result

And the UKIP vote continues to plummet........

Kent County - Romney Marsh: C 2222, Lab 748, Lib Dem 479, Ukip 420, Ind 238.

In June 2009, UKIP managed to come second in Romney with 1573 votes. So in less than two years and UKIP has lost a whopping 1153 votes.

Still think that Farage's UKIP is worth wasting your time on?

UKIP: Nikki Sinclaire takes the Battle Bus to Westminster

West Midlands’ independent MEP, Nikki Sinclaire, is bringing her ‘Have Your Say’ Battle Bus to the Houses of Parliament on 10th and 11th February. Since September of last year, the Battle Bus has visited over 30 towns and cities across the country. Ms Sinclaire’s aim is to get 100K signatures for her EU referendum petition.

She wants to give British people the chance to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to being part of the European Union. Anyone under the age of 54 has never had the chance to vote on this issue which Nikki believes is wrong. The last time the UK held a referendum on the Common Market, at it was then known, was in 1975 – and even this was retrospective.

The aim of bringing the Battle Bus to Westminster is to get MPs from all parties to sign the petition and encourage them to get their constituents to back the referendum too.

Despite the fact that, if successful, the campaign outcome could put her out of a job, Nikki thinks people have the right to decide. Commenting on the campaign, she said:

"This is an issue that must be resolved for over 20 years the debate has raged. In that time opinion polls have shown that more and more people are opposed to Britain's membership of the EU. We desperately need a national debate on the pros and cons of our membership of the European Union. At the moment we have one foot in and one foot out. This is detrimental to Britain's interests. I call on a binding referendum and the courage of our political leaders to abide by it. It is called democracy and that is why I am taking my battle bus to the mother of parliaments in Westminster "

Nikki Sinclaire and her Battle Bus team will be located in Old Palace Yard, Westminster (Opposite Palace of Westminster), SW1P 3JY from 9am to 5pm each day.

We look forward to meeting you there!

UKIP: Clark running scared!

The news that Ken Browne was holding another meeting (LINK) to discuss Clark's numerous failings has finally shocked the MEP into action!

Clark and Ransome have now both agreed to hold a regional meeting! This will be the first meeting for months!

It is to be held in Newark on 21/2/11.

However, all proposed items for the agenda MUST be made to Clark or Ransome 7 days before the meeting! And Clark will be vetting all the questions!

Local authority elections are currently the only permitted item for discussion! There are no plans to discuss UKIP finances or even the growing unrest in the East Midlands.

No change then!

UKIP: More Farage hypocrisy & Nuttall is chuffed that £50,000 was wasted in Oldham

Someone should inform Farage's extremist friends in True Finns that UKIP's most corrupt MEP has admitted in a letter that referendums are of no political relevance (LINK).

British MEP Nigel Farage, Co-chair of the Europe Freedom and Democracy Group is in Finland to give support to the True Finns party's election campaign.

Farage attended a gathering also attended by True Finns Party Chair, Timo Soini on Sunday. Farage called for a referendum on the future of the EU in the light of the current economic crisis facing Greece and other member states.

The controversial eurosceptic MEP wished the True Finns good luck with their campaign.

The odious Nuttall

The odious Nuttall is STILL patting himself on the back for beating the BNP in Oldham. And we thought that UKIP's sole aim was to get us out of the EU!

We should point out that in 2010, the previous UKIP Oldham candidate got 1,720 votes. In 2011, Nuttall got 2,029 votes. That's an increase of just 309 votes! Was it really worth £50,000 UKIPPERS?

UKIP: Derek Clark still facing calls to quit

We can confirm that the calls for Clark to quit are growing.

Steve Crowther – UKIP Executive Chairman - has now requested a full list of the allegations made against Clark. These include his failure to act after Derek Evans accused Gerard Batten of sexually harassing a female colleague (LINK) and Clark’s involvement in the disappearance of money raised via Ashford, the UKIP lottery, etc.

Ken Browne’s Talbot Hotel (Notts) meeting for disillusioned UKIPPERS will discuss Clark and various other matters. It will be held today. We understand that Don Ransome – UKIP RO – and his wife are not welcome.

A call for the resignation of Derek Clark as Regional Chairman will again be the main item.

Questions will be asked why UKIP East Midlands has not held a regional meeting since September 2010. This is despite numerous requests to Clark and Ransome to hold one.

Mr Browne is still looking for support in his campaign to force Clark to resign. Would you like to help?

Mr Browne can be contacted on 07776 306668 or 0115 9821814

The East Midlands also lacks a proper treasurer. Indeed, there has been no committee approved treasurer for almost 2 years.

We note that the regional accounts are understood to have just a small 'holding' sum of money therein. So where did the rest of the money go?

There is also anger that Farage and Clark are trying to force UKIPPERS in the East Midlands to accept Evans as their new treasurer. This is despite a refusal on the part of Evans to provide even a basic CV to members!

We can confirm that Mr Evans has ambitions to succeed Clark as an MEP. Indeed, he has been busy smearing any potential rival. Chris Pain – second on the current East Midlands MEP list - has been one of his recent targets. Apparently, Mr Pain is ‘disloyal’ to Farage for posting certain comments on the UKIP members only forum.
It is interesting to note that Evans had expressed concerns about the validity of the recent NEC elections. See: LINK. However, he quickly dropped these doubts after it pointed out to him by a Farage sycophant that complaining about corruption in UKIP will hardly boost his chances of becoming an MEP.

Membership in the East Midlands continues to fall. It is now roughly 700. The region once had over 5,600 members.

We will be publishing more on this story tomorrow.

UKIP: Another ex-UKIPPER speaks out

Len Baynes was a UKIP Cambs chairman and PPC. He left UKIP after realising that it was led by the corrupt and incompetent.

Taken from his recent email:

Now that a national paper has finally had the guts to send a petition of 373,000 signatures to Downing St.( See Daily Express 1/2/2011) I must ask, WHERE THE BLOODY HELL ARE UKIP. Throughout this campaign at least 6 weeks maybe more we have seen one small quote from UKIP.s oh so with it leader. Could it be his self placed halo has coddled his egotistic mind must I as a fervent anti EU person remind him what he is supposed to be there for YOU and your M.E.P,s should have raised the roof at this campaign, should have been on board at the start, should have been screaming from the rooftops from the very onset but NO. Do you need me as a minor cog have to say, as an onlooker now and a member of the general public. Tell Mr. Farage to now withdraw his M.E.P’s from Brussels and work from London hand in glove with the Daily Express for the good of his and our Country. But then could it be the gravy train runs to sweetly to contemplate such a patriotic move.

Len Baynes ex UKIP twice parliamentary candidate for UKIP.

But Mr Baynes should realise that Farage doesn't really believe in referendums. He admitted this in a letter first leaked by Junius on this very blog. See: LINK

Derek Clark sleeps while UKIP Burns

Derek is probably the most useless of all UKIP's MEPs. Under his ‘leadership’ the East Midlands has all but collapsed.

The East Midlands was one of the jewels in UKIP's crown.

The region had two MEPs, over 5600 members, a considerable branch structure covering all six counties, regular branch and regional meetings all properly conducted with traditional courtesies and Northamptonshire's 6 constituency PPC's producing an informative monthly newsletter, plenty of team spirit, leafleting chosen areas on Saturdays and finally no shortage of local authority election candidates standing everywhere.

And now?

Years of Derek Clark's incompetence has led to this......

The region has just 700 members and hardly any active branches.

In Brussels, you will often find him asleep at his desk. And that is about as animated as he gets nowadays.

The latest example of the Derek's incompetence is illustrated by his failure to do anything about Derek Evans.

But who is Derek Evans?

He is the Chairman of UKIP North Notts. Evans backed Farage during the recent leadership election, the usual Farage sycophant with all the charm and intelligence of a dead rat.

He has recently accused Gerard Batten of sexual harassing Paula Daly, who used to work in Gerard's office. Indeed, Mr Evans has told several UKIPPERS in the East Midlands that she left Gerard's employment because of his constant pestering.

We can confirm that Mr Evan's allegations are entirely without foundation. Ms Daly left Gerard's employment because she was finding travelling from the East Midlands to London rather tiresome.

Formal complaints were made to Derek Clark about Evans and his lies. Clark promised to deal with it. He did nothing.

We can confirm that letters of complaint have now been sent to Steve Crowther - UKIP's joke Executive Chairman- about Evans and his attempt to blacken Gerard's name in the East Midlands. Calls have also been made for Clark to stand down as Regional Chairman and as an MEP.

It remains to be seen if Crowther will act and bring Evans before a disciplinary committee. Clark must also face questioning for failing to act on the original complaints.

But as Evans and Clark are Farage sycophants we very much doubt that anything will be done. Farage hates Batten for supporting Congdon during the leadership election and welcomes anything that may damage London's only UKIP MEP.

More on Clark

Let us not also forget that in 2007 Clark betrayed everything that UKIP stood for by signing an agreement in Bucharest endorsing subsidiarity and the Common Agricultural Policy. Subsidiarity is an EU doctrine which assumes EU sovereignty. Accepting subsidiarity accepts ultimate EU sovereignty.

Clark has been under investigation by the EU’s anti-fraud body OLAF. It is claimed that Derek Clark used EP money to employ a person (Andrew Fear) who worked as a membership officer for UKIP in the party headquarters in Devon and did no work for Clark as an MEP. This would appear to be against EU expenses rules.

Derek Clark OLAF Case Number: D/007/033/04.09.08

Derek Clark OLAF Investigation Number: DD/FD-

UKIP: The Letter that Nigel Farage didn't want you to see

Click on the letter for a closer look

It is interesting to note that the UKIP party website includes a call to support a campaign for a referendum on EU membership. Farage has also been quick to jump on the bandwagon, especially if he can use the issue to get his face into the press.

But the truth of UKIP's position is slightly different. In private, Farage's office is less than optimistic about the chances of success as a result of any referendum, as this letter, which has been widely distributed to the press, proves.

"Petitions, I may say, are useful for publicising issues and recruiting activists; but, where such a a fundamental policy as rejecting the EU is concerned, there is no prospect whatever of a pro-EU government's accceding to a petition." So there we have it - UKIP does not really believe in its own policies, apparently.

"No prospect whatever" of a referendum achieving anything, according to the office of Nigel Farage MEP. This is another example of the supreme hypocrisy of the UKIP leadership, and one which may prove to be the Fuhrer's downfall.

(The wisdom of allowing such a poorly written letter to go out to a constituent must also surely be called into question.)

UKIP: More on Nikki Sinclaire's fight for justice

From the Parliament.com:

UKIP lodges appeal in MEP discrimination case

A discrimination case brought against UKIP by British independent MEP Nikki Sinclaire is to be reheard, it has emerged.

Sinclaire brought a case of sexual orientation discrimination against the party after she had the whip removed by UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

The party made no defence when she lodged a discrimination suit against it and a default judgment was made in her favour.

But UKIP subsequently said it had failed to lodge a response because of an administrative error and that an application for the judgment to be set aside had been filed.

The date for the employment tribunal hearing, probably at Exeter, in south-west England, is yet to be fixed.

Sinclaire, who now sits as an independent in parliament, told this website she had "mixed feelings" about the initial tribunal ruling.

She said, "I was hoping the whole thing would be over by now but, clearly, it isn't. I was pleased the tribunal ruled in my favour, not least because it agreed that the allegations I made against UKIP were well-founded.

"However, UKIP has applied to have the ruling set aside and it just leaves me saddened by how all this has turned out.

"I have been trying to work for an out-of-court settlement but at no point did UKIP agree to this."

Sinclaire had the whip removed in January last year after she refused to sit with members of the far-right Italian party Lega Nord, claiming some of its members were homophobic.

Meanwhile, Sinclaire said she was still waiting to hear from parliament about her complaint that UKIP deputy Godfrey Bloom had verbally abused her.

She claims he called her a "queer" as he passed her in a corridor in the Strasbourg parliament.
