I have heard from several ex-UKIPPERS and several current members since I first revealed that the police had arrested Tony Ellwood, Derek Clark’s former researcher. See: LINK
These nasty events are attracting a lot of anger with many pointing the finger of blame at Derek Clark’s office.
It does appear that the 'Crimestoppers' charity has been brought into considerable disrepute by a person, or persons in UKIP in order to intimidate Tony Ellwood.
Wasting Police Time is regarded as a very serious crime and carries a maximum penalty of six month’s imprisonment and/or a fine.
The police went to considerable cost to obtain a warrant for the arrest of Ellwood, plan a raid of involving 8 officers and then search the premises until 2pm. Those costs now require paying for.
During the next 10 days it will hopefully emerge from a Nottingham police enquiry who exactly made the very knowledgeable call to Crimestoppers with sufficient correct information to cause the raid.
It appears that there are only 5 people who knew of certain precise information about Tony Ellwood. And it was this precise information that was passed on to Crimestoppers.
Two are Nottingham UKIP volunteer members Ken Browne, and Alan Margeson. Neither are believed to be involved.
The others are Derek Clark MEP, Irena Marriott, Clark’s office manager and Don Ransome, Clark’s Regional Organiser.
All I can say is that it is rather strange that a member of Clark's paid staff told Tony Ellwood that he would be shortly arrested. How did this person know unless they were fully aware of the call to Crimestoppers?
The 6 month potential jail sentence is straightforward as the people who caused the script to be written and made the call can be identified and exposed. Compensation may be sought by the criminal justice system and as members of the Regional Committee are ‘jointly and severally liable' I expect that there are certain UKIPPERS suffering sleepless nights!
Happily, there are a few wealthy members on the East Midlands Committee. John Dilkes has homes in Britain and Australia and flies between the two. Peter Baker, a businessman of some repute, may both cover any fines with additional compensation imposed upon the region.
Peter Baker , who you may recall, had a nasty fall out with Derek Clark which resulted in Clark using UKIP’s disciplinary process to rid himself of Baker. So that’s where Jeffrey Titford got the idea from! See: LINK

Clark failed in his attempt to remove Baker from the party and much bad blood was created.
The OLAF investigation into allegations that Clark misused his EU allowance is certainly gathering momentum with the likelihood that Nottingham Police will be asked to launch a full investigation into Clark’s financial activities.

Is Derek Clark - a man accused of fraud - the sort of person you want representing Great Britain for another five years?
