UKIP: Whatever happened to Young Independence?

I am not surprised that Yasin Akgun - former Vice-Chairman of Young Independence - walked away from UKIP and joined the Tories.

Young Independence is dead in the water. My dead parrot is currently more active than YI’s leadership.

Lisa Duffy - also known as Scruffy Duffy and head of YI- promised Farage hundreds of new members by the end of 2008. She failed to keep her promise.

The YI five-a-side football matches also failed to materialise.

The YI newsletter - supposedly a regular publication- appears with as much frequency as Halley’s Comet.

The YI website is about as informative as listening to David Bannerman’s maiden speech as an MEP. How about a few INTERESTING articles for a change?

And if you manage to spot any YI stalls at university fresher fairs do please let me know. At the moment you have a better chance of meeting Lord Lucan at your local university!

YI lacks intelligent leadership and ANY cohesive plan of action. Lisa Duffy and Michael Heaver are about as much use as a couple of chocolate teapots. They would be far better employed as musical doormats that play “See the Conquering Hero Comes” whenever Farage and the odious Nuttall wipe their feet on them.

Since the departure of Del Young UKIP’s youth wing has stagnated and is now simply waiting for someone with the courage to put it out of its misery.

Any offers? Will Andrew Gray - 15 year old candidate for YI Vice-Chairman - do the decent thing and consign YI to the dustbin?

Good day Jenius, thank you for the mention in your article, although that isn't my plan you'll be happy to know! ;)

My plan is to push YI forward, and fast, just to stun you.

But of course, that all depends on me winning out of the 8 other candidates.

How did you find out my age?

I have my sources. Just ask Nigel Farage and Paul Nuttall!

I wish you the best of luck.

However, the current leadership will never tolerate independent minds trying to turn UKIP into something good.

UKIP exists to get Farage and his sycophants on the EU Gravy Train. Nothing else is important to them.

It's all about money and ego.

Hi,

that EUkip yoof seem unable to find yoofs we now find school kids standing for office!

I seriously wonder what a child of 15 can contribute to the gravitas of the party.

I do however think it might be a good idea for EUkip Yoof to have a children's wing.

How about EUkip crech!

Minded of howmany of the more competent activists who have left the party I do appreciate the EUkip yoof now form the core of the party.

It is a pity they never did find someone of charisma as a leader but with so few members I guess it isn't easy.

Andy - I suggest you concentrate on getting the grades you need and as good an education as you can if you wish to serve these United Kingdoms - leave politics to the failures it so readily and obviously attracts.

One only needs to have met a few dozen MPs and you realise just how hopelessly we are represented and as you must be aware no one of callibre remains as an MEP they all angle for seats in Westminster if they are any good.

Clearly there are exceptions like Dan Hannan whose career is founded on a good brain, pleasant demeanour, exemplary speaking ability and a very good turn of phrase for the written word.

It is a pity EUkip has never let someone of that ilk rise but it would make the muppets in EUkip's leadership look so crass.

To missquote JFK 'Ask not what you can do at 15 but aim to serve as a grown up and how best you can then be of service.'

Goodluck, I'm sure you will be most welcome in 10 years time when you have a contribution to make.

I am always happy to listen to the advice of children and consider the source.

Like it or not, we "children" are the future.

Hi,

why else Andy would I wish children to get as sound an educational grounding and as diverse a range of experiences on which to draw before they are saddled with the responsibility of guiding that future.

Good luck and I hope you are not forced to take over until you have the maximum ability to cope with the increasing challenges.
