UKIP: UKIP candidate ousted after Margaret Thatcher comments

It appears that Mr Bell had seriously compromised Nigel's desparate attempts to be seen as Mrs Thatcher's heir! Yet another example of 'libertarianism' in UKIP. Upset the Fuhrer and you're out!

UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage and Ken Bell

From the BBC:

A UKIP candidate who wrote an offensive tweet about Margaret Thatcher has withdrawn from local elections following an "extremely sarcastic" email exchange with a female activist.

Ken Bell was standing in Pendle Central in the Lancashire County Council elections on 2 May.

UKIP north west regional organiser Fred McGlade said Mr Bell was suspended over emails "offensive to women".

Last week Mr Bell tweeted "sympathies" to the devil for hosting Mrs Thatcher.

Mr Bell exchanged emails with a woman following an online debate about UKIP's national billboard campaign on immigration called "Enough's Enough".

He admitted his emails were "extremely sarcastic" and "derisory" but said he stood by them.

But Mr McGlade said: "It was aggressive and offensive to women in general.

"When I saw [the messages] I was appalled and thought this is not acceptable to us as a party."

He added: "It was not over a tweet over Margaret Thatcher's death.

"He was under suspension when he voluntarily stood down; his membership had not been cancelled."

Mr Bell said he had "mixed messages" from Mr McGlade, who he alleges "manoeuvred" him into standing down after he tweeted "sympathies go to His Satanic Majesty for having to host" the ex-prime minister who died last week aged of 87.

Mr Bell said: "I have no regrets about my email exchange or my Thatcher tweet.

"I am still a member in good standing of the party and have no plans to resign from UKIP."

Democracy in UKIP! YI activist blocked from official position for criticising Neil Hamilton!

And so UKIP's so-called leadership has blocked a YI activist from becoming Treasurer. And his terrible crime? He dared to criticise Neil Hamilton, UKIP NEC member, wannabe SW MEP and disgraced former Tory MP.

We note that Nigel Farage has promised Neil 'Cash for Questions' Hamilton the lead MEP position in the South West.

Yet another example of just how libertarian UKIP really is! Criticise one of Farage's sleazy buddies and you're out!

From The Commentator:

Following reports of incidents involving Gareth Shanks, the Chairman of the Friends of Palestine in UKIP group, the youth activist has been refused a role in the party’s youth wing, Young Indepdence, on the basis that he is, “A considerable embarrassment.”

UKIP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) ruled that although Shanks had been elected unopposed to the position of Treasurer of Young Independence, the NEC blocked the appointment citing Shanks’s record of comments.

Jonathan Arnott, UKIP’s youth secretary, stated that Shanks’s behaviour on social media led to the decision, including Shanks stating of his own UKIP membership, ”I would leave, but I can be 10000x more annoying as a member.”

Shanks was known to be overtly critical of NEC member Neil Hamilton, once tweeting, ”How is Neil Hamilton on the NEC anyways? He’s corrupt, he shouldn’t bein the Party, let alone a position of power. Another comment from Shanks read, “If Neil Hamilton gets a place on the MEP lists, I’m leaving the Party. It’ll just show Farage pusheshis mates into high spots.”

Activists have pointed to an e-mail between YI Chairman Sean Howlett and Neil Hamilton wherein Howlett lets Hamilton know about Shanks’s views, to which Hamilton responds, “Many thanks Sean, I wil deal with him.”

Shanks’s rejection from the position comes months after activist Olly Neville was excluded from the party for defying party policy. The event was called “Ollyshambles” by party activists.

Shanks told The Commentator: “I was removed from my position as treasurer even after winning the election uncontested, the reasons behind which are to do with my personal dislike for a NEC member and not for the poor reasons given by the NEC.

“I can’t help but feel that we’ve spent so long in the European parliament that we’re starting to copy how they do democracy. I don’t want to leave the party, but as we saw with OllyShambles, the UKIP smear machine is in full flow and I’ve even had two party officials accuse me of lying about serving in the military, so i’m finding it difficult to see the point in staying on anymore.”

Messages of support trickled in on the #StandWithShanks hashtag on Twitter, however many also supported the NEC decision, tweeting, “Well done, UKIP, well done.” Others pointed to the fact that another NEC member had remarked that “gays aren’t normal” and had not been disciplined for it. One tweeter warned, “UKIP are become less Libertarian by the day. [sic]“

UKIP Branches and Nigel as 'Man of the People'

Nigel Farage: A big mouth, sleaze ridden and with a very little brain. Even Andrew Neil branded him a joke during a recent visit to Brussels. Such a pity that Hermann 'Luv the IRA' Kelly, UKIP press man, took it all so personally!

UKIP now claims that they have over 300 branches across the UK. So how many of these branches consist of just one man and his dog? We are well aware of more than one branch where the committee consists of just three people! One UKIPPER has told us that UKIP HQ recently told him that it was ok to form a branch that consisted of just him and his wife! He was told to do this as "it would look good to the voters and press" as it would give the impression that UKIP was growing at a tremendous rate!

And it's rather strange that the Electoral Commission list just 270 branches for the party!

We would also like to quote Barboo, who posted the following on the British Democracy Forum:

Celebration of a supposed 300 branches might be a little premature as there are still outstanding new branches to be registered. It's been a quirk of UKIP's for several years that new registrations are almost invariably accompanied by losses of existing ones, the most memorable being an occasion in 2008 when it was noted that registration of 55 new branches had been outstripped by the loss of 62 old ones, resulting in a net reduction of 7.

To put the figures in context, there were 246 registered branches in July 2005 and there are now 270. When doing random occasional checks between those dates I have added up a total of 187 newly registered branches and 163 lost branches, resulting in a net gain of 24 over nearly 8 years. If UKIP is indeed claiming now to have 300, we shall need to see another 30 appear on the Electoral Commission's website very shortly, with no losses. SEE: LINK

Nigel Farage - Man of the People!

Nigel Farage in yellow trousers, Arthur Daley coat and huge amounts of money stashed away in offshore bank accounts. A true man of the people!

How we laughed at Nigel's pathetic attempts to remake himself as a man of the people during his recent Common Sense UK tour. Sadly, it was more of a Let's Try to Hoodwink the Public into Believing that Nigel is a Nice Guy publicity stunt. The halls were intentionally packed with UKIP members. And, as you would expect, these could be relied upon to shout down those who dared question Nigel's suitability to run the country.

Even members of the media found the whole experience laughable as UKIP press office members sent out pictures of the Fuhrer - usually in a pub - in staged poses with 'members of the public' in a yet another desperate attempt to make Nigel appear 'Mr Nice'.

So would Nigel care to explain why this 'man of the people' has paid large amounts of EU money into offshore bank accounts? Would he care to explain why he's happy to make millions out of the EU, something he claims to hate? Would he care to explain why he happily sits with fascists in the EFD group? Or pay his wife to do a non-existent job for him using EU/UK tax payers money? Or how about the fact that even Mike Nattrass described him as having the morals of an alley cat? And pray do tell us all why you can't go back to Gibraltar? And what did happen to the £211,000 that 'vanished' from UKIP South East's accounts?

Nigel Farage. Living it up at your expense!

UKIP chief brands journalists 'Provos'

And yet another example of UKIP unprofessionalism! So how is attacking journalists going to win the party press support we wonder?

But what can you expect from a party where drunkards are MEPs and Peter Reeve and Lisa 'Need a Wash' Duffy are in charge of candidate training!

Read on........

THE President of the National Union of Journalists has called on the Chairperson of Nigel Farage's UK Independence Party in the North of Ireland, Councillor Henry Reilly, “to clearly and unambiguously”withdraw his description of press reporters in Armagh and Down as “Provos”.

NUJ President Barry McCall said he was shocked and dismayed at the attack on local journalists made last night (April 8th) at a meeting of Newry & Mourne District Council and what he described as the unwarranted accusation of bias against professional journalists employed by newspapers serving their local communities.

Councillor Reilly made his comments during a debate on strip-searching in prisons arising from a motion tabled by another councillor.

The NUJ said:

“During the debate Councillor Reilly, speaking in the third person, declared, ‘The press, looking at Reilly with disgust when he talks, they are Provos too probably.’”

Councillor Reilly refused a request from fellow councillors to fully withdraw the remarks, saying:

“I haven’t called the press . . . any particular journalist a Provo. I will make generalised statements that some papers have a nationalist/republican bias. It is a commonly-held perception among the unionist community.”

The five journalists there presented Mayor John McArdle with a signed request for Councillor Reilly to withdraw the remarks but he insisted that he had made no charge against any individuals and therefore no precise apology was needed.

Séamus Dooley, Irish Secretary of the NUJ, acknowledged that Councillor Reilly “is entitled to express strong opinions but not in a manner which is unacceptable or seeks to tarnish the reputation of individuals”.

 He added:

“This is an outrageous attack on the local media which should not go unchallenged. Elected representatives need to be mindful of the potential implications of public utterances of this type.

“Mr Reilly has abused his position and failed to avail of the opportunity given to withdraw his statement. He occupies a leadership position with UKIP Northern Ireland and I call on the party’s MLA, David McNarry, to disassociate himself from the comments of Councillor Reilly.”

UKIP: The hypocrisy of Nigel Farage's stance on extremism!

And so Nigel's former election agent is to stand for UKIP in the local elections. Pity he's ex-National Front and therefore banned from even being a member of UKIP. But Nigel can always be counted on to ignore the rules when it suits him! After all, does he not happily sit with far-right MEPs in the EFD Group? Including, those who defend mass murderers? LINK

Martyn Heale was a former National Front branch organiser in Hammersmith in the late 1970s and a NF candidate in the London borough of Hammersmith in the 1979 local elections. Heale later resigned from the National Front and became Chairman of the West London branch of the far-right New Britain Party.

Mr Heale is now chairman of UKIP South Thanet and is standing as a UKIP candidate in the upcoming Kent County Council on May 2nd 2013.
